Investigators Find Gaps in White House Logs of Trump's Jan. 6 Calls
Source: NY Times
Sparse call records are the latest obstacle facing the House panel, which is trying to document what President Trump was doing during the attack on Congress.
WASHINGTON The House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol has discovered gaps in official White House telephone logs from the day of the riot, finding few records of calls by President Donald J. Trump from critical hours when investigators know that he was making them.
Investigators have not uncovered evidence that any official records were tampered with or deleted, and it is well known that Mr. Trump used his personal cellphone, and those of his aides, routinely to talk with aides, congressional allies and outside confidants.
But the sparse call records are the latest major obstacle to the panels central mission: recreating what Mr. Trump was doing behind closed doors during crucial moments of the assault on Congress by a mob of his supporters.
The panel is still awaiting additional material from the National Archives and Records Administration, which keeps the official White House logs

(145,129 posts)TFG appears to have doctored or destroyed Presidential records. I note that the House Oversight committee is looking at the destruction of records. We can add this to the list of matters to be investigated.

In a letter sent Wednesday to Archivist of the United States David S. Ferriero, Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.) requested information to examine the extent and impact of Trumps apparent violations of the Presidential Records Act, which requires the preservation of memos, letters, notes, emails, faxes and other written communications related to a presidents official duties.
The letter, provided to The Washington Post, asked for a detailed inventory of the contents of the recovered boxes, a description of records that Trump destroyed or attempted to destroy without the approval of the Archives, and whether the contents are undergoing a review to determine if they contain classified information. Maloney also asked whether "the Archivist has notified the Attorney General that former President Trump removed presidential records from the White House.
Removing or concealing government records is a criminal offense punishable by up to three years in prison, Maloney wrote. Former National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, for example, was prosecuted for taking classified documents from NARA. Former President Trump and his senior advisors must also be held accountable for any violations of the law.

(11,579 posts)IT seems years ago now because of all we've endured since, but I seem to remember people howling about it. Even some on the left claimed she should have known better--she was careless. So...perfection was expected from her.

Where is the outrage? I don't hear a peep except from those of us who new TFG was a treason weasel.

(16,935 posts)traitor wouldn't try to cover his trail of sedition and treason?
Unfortunately, there are way too many people involved in this attempted takeover of the U.S. It is not a secret that traitor tried to marshall the traitorous bastards among people living in this country. it is a shame that so many people hate the country that had given them so much more than they deserve.
I think that everyone who helped in anyway, from believing traitor's lies, to spreading them, to attacking the Capital, to encouraging people to deny the results of the election, to forging documents, to working from within the government to betray us should be deported. I don't care where. Just get them off our land. If that isn't feasible, make every single person who harbored ill-will toward this country sign a loyalty oath. Until they do, they enjoy no rights of American citizenship. I guess putin is exempted from the last.
By the way, does anyone else think flynn looks like mcveigh, only old?

.... "they" already have much of that information.

(51,129 posts)Due to the tunnels and other dead zones, they created a cellular system that worked anywhere. Doubtless, they were gathering call info in real time as this happened.
Botany
(70,490 posts)... the caller was when he or she made the call. They might also have any texts, videos, emails, and
the phone # of where the call went to and so if that call went to the White House or some burner phone
they the FBI has that information.

(70,490 posts)And even if people used burner phones they will have those #s and they can trace
who sold the phone and good chance they will have pictures from video feeds at
the stores that sold the phones for cash.

I might be wrong but as Trump was watching the boodshed and violence on TV on 1/6/21 he or his people
were talking to the people inside the US Capitol.

(14,302 posts)Just a thought. We know a few key players such as Jr. and Kushner were using them. Suppose TFG was using one too
is that why Jr. couldn't reach his father on Jan. 6, and had to ask that a message be relayed?

(3,550 posts)If Trump is charged (federal charges), since as president he was acting as Commander in Chief, then why cant the military charge him? Let him face a military tribunal - dont have to worry about MAGA types - and a military court can give him the death penalty.
