Florida Early Vote Totals Drastically Changed, Raises Questions

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by muriel_volestrangler (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum).

“There could be a very simple explanation. I have no idea,” said David Brown, a political consultant who is working for three Broward candidates, and who downloaded the Sunday early vote totals Sunday morning, only to be asked later by a colleague for the numbers, which he retrieved from his phone. When he looked at the revised totals, the Pat Larkins number stood out. “Almost every one of the precincts changed,” Brown said. “Some by two or three, one by about 100. But the Pat Larkins Center, that’s more than a thousand votes. I’m curious why.”

Brown said that when he inquired about the numbers, he was told by the elections office that the changes had resulted from a “computer glitch.”

Computer glitch? If so, they should release the exact details of such a glitch along with testimony from several computer experts, because votes aren’t something that you play around with. If there is a glitch, it needs to be fixed, and immediately. They also said that there were a couple transposing errors that were fixed, but there is no excuse for any of this.

I tell my family in NC, I don't understand why you vote for Romney, but I'm glad you voted.

I also tell them I want EVERYONE's VOTE counted.

Whether we win or lose FLORIDA is not the point as much as getting the elections handled fairly. THIS SUCKS!!

From the Department of Justice website: Election fraud or intimidation complaints may also be directed to the Public Integrity Section ( 202-514-1412). Public Integrity Section prosecutors are available to consult and coordinate with the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and FBI regarding the handling of election-crime allegations.

We've got some issues down here in Miami-Dade as well.

Some voters have yet to receive absentee ballots they requested weeks ago from Broward County's elections' office. Long lines have plagued several early voting sites, especially in Hollywood and Miramar.

In Miami-Dade, the lines have been even longer. Wait times range from 30 minutes to six hours. The North Miami library has had such long waits that Haitian-American advocates held a news conference Wednesday to protest the "disenfranchisement."

In Aventura, police officers waved away potential voters who couldn't find parking spots. A county commissioner resorted to enlisting a staffer, to shuttle voters by van from distant parking lots to the polls.

Nothing fishy there. If romney was given a 2% handicap, what do you think might happen? These guys are going for it and how will anyone find out without a paper trail?

That's the only reliable means of voting in an election. Every other method is so open to corruption that the results should automatically be suspect.

I'll go farther that in the election for President, the Senate and the House the form of the ballot should be national and something every school child learns by the sixth grade. No more fiddling with the form of the ballot to steal elections.

The complicit media, the Republicans and the absurdly federalist system of elections in the United States and the corrupt Supreme Court are a recipe for massive voter fraud of the worst kind. This is why no one adopts the American system unless they want a corrupt oligarchy.

We have had since 2000 to get a uniform style of voting. If the Democratic precincts have paperless voting, whose fault is it?

But unfortunately it is still all to easy to rig an election in Florida, provided it starts out close enough to make the final "result" plausable.

In Palm Beach a computer software problem caused a winning candidate to flip to being a losing candidate...So it's not just those pesky little glitches...Seems Florida opted to be the responsible party to calibrate and certify their voting machines and software. It's certainly very concerning to hear of voting machine issues out of Florida less than a week from election day.

WHEN THE VOTE IS COUNTED IN TOTAL SECRECY WITHOUT VERIFICATION, IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO HAVE A DEMOCRACY.

Could hardly be more obvious. The German Constitutional Court, in 2009, in banning voting machines from being used to count votes in the German Republic, reasoned almost exactly in this way. In order for a democracy to be a democracy, the average voter has to be able to validate the vote without specialists or experts to advise him.

It is not a computer error. It is not a glitch. These things are programmed by people. These people are almost always, if not always Republicans.

THAT is the glitch.

This is outrageous. I and thousands of other Obama supporters did not wait on a long line the other day in Broward County to vote so that our vote would be ignored. Definitely going to look into this today and see what can be done.

Anyone who does not return an absentee ballot, deciding instead to vote at the polls, will be required to cast a provisional ballot...

By state law, provisional ballots may not be counted until at least Nov. 17.
