Ontario Declares State of Emergency Over Blocked U.S. Bridge

Source: Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) -- The premier of Canada’s biggest province declared a state of emergency, warning protesters choking off traffic at a key U.S. border crossing and causing gridlock in Canada’s capital they face stiff punishment if they don’t leave.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford, in a news conference Friday alongside his solicitor general, said the government is enacting new powers to end the blockade, including issuing fines of up to C$100,000 ($78,800) and jail time.

The Ambassador Bridge from Windsor, Ontario into Detroit has been largely closed since Monday night. The conduit carries about one quarter of the commercial trade between the U.S. and Canada. Automakers including General Motors Co., Ford Motor Co., Stellantis NV and Toyota Motor Corp. have been forced to curb production.

The Ontario premier called the situation “a pivotal moment for our nation” with the “the eyes of the world” watching how Canada and its leaders confront growing public unrest over Covid-19 restrictions and the occupation of its capital city’s downtown core.

Western democracies are really showing their weaknesses I'm afraid.
The RW will continue to do anything we fail to stop them from doing.

kind of like pizzagate or deflate gate and other gates. Once we have a water scandal, things can come full circle back to watergate.

for gross linkage here to this type of protest. WE just have to watch for trolls and have each others' back...in the ongoing ideological difference(s) tug of war for hearts and minds.

You act, so that justice may be served, instead of accumulating a mountain of evidence when a thimble is more than enough to get the job done.

Certainly, I hope I’m correct. Gov. Newsom has loftier ambitions than the governorship of California I think. This could be a moment for him. I would enjoy seeing these chaos-loving traitors set up a situation that propels a Democrat into positive national prominence.

“Legal” to run over protesters blocking streets. The only people AT the game are rich people, and they can fund a massive plowing exercise. They will not be happy about a $7,000 dollar seat lose.

wanted to be seen with Philip Michael Thomas because he had a brand to protect. Doug Ford is an ***hole for not attending meetings these last few days with the federal government and the Mayors of cities that have truckers stinking and jamming everything up. No doubt Ford plans to run federally one day.
