An Albuquerque stabbing spree leaves 11 people wounded, police say

Source: CNN

At least 11 people were stabbed Sunday in Albuquerque, New Mexico -- and police believe the same suspect was responsible for each attack.

"Officers are investigating 7 possible scenes - stretching from Downtown to Central and Wyoming - with reports of 11 stabbing victims," the Albuquerque Police Department tweeted Sunday evening.

"All victims are in stable condition. The lone suspect is in custody."

The suspect's identity has not been released, and the motive for the attacks is unclear.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A lone suspect is responsible for a mass stabbing, causing a path of terror across northeast Albuquerque on Sunday, police said.

. . .

All 11 victims are alive and stable after initially being taken to four hospitals, Gallegos said, but some have been in critical condition. Some have since left the hospital.

The victims include someone who was eating inside a restaurant with their family, a person stabbed inside a tent and someone who had just been involved in a car crash.

Police describe the suspect as riding a BMX-style bike along Central as he stabbed people.

Police arrest man suspected of stabbing 11 in Albuquerque
NEWS

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Police in Albuquerque arrested a man suspected of stabbing 11 people as he rode a bicycle around the city over the weekend, leaving two victims critically injured, authorities said.

He was identified as 42-year-old Tobias Gutierrez and booked into jail overnight on charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, police in New Mexico’s largest city said in a statement Monday.

Police spokesman Gilbert Gallegos told TV station KRQE that the stabbings “appear to be random … There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason at this point.”

The first stabbing report came in Sunday around 11:15 a.m. Officers responded to a scene downtown and found a man suffering a laceration to his hand.

More alcohol and substance abuse treatment facilities-really good ones that include all we know about nutrition and the brain, music and art therapy-everything we can do to help those with wounds, mental and physical.

Just another "magic solution" to crime problems.

The actual point I'm making, is that there are so many guns out *NOW,* how would we enforce any of the "take away guns" laws being proposed?

Have the ATF go door-to-door ransacking houses looking for the "wrong" guns?

As it is, felons and a couple other groups can not have guns, you think it stops them?
Hell no.

I was taught the proper ways to shoot, and handle guns by my Father.

I used to own a shotgun and pistol, sold both.

I own other things in my house that can be quite lethal.
Like a hatchet.

Should it be banned?

The NRA and other "Gunz fer ever'yone!" groups can go screw themselves.
So can anyone saying "I will take yer gunz!"

It's just too hard! No wingle approach will work! I don't like any of the ideas!

So let's just do NOTHING and watch the slaughter continue.

Please note that I'm not anti gun, people in my part of the country need them, it's a wild world outside the city.

However, they don't need semi auto killing machines. Those have to go, the party's over. Time for this country to sober up and realize the love affair with semi auto guns has cost them and the rest of us far too much to continue.

If he'd been armed with a pistol or some such, I can only imagine how badly it might have turned out.

Very scary, though.

Wonder why it took so long to apprehend a guy on a stabing spree...on a bike.
