House January 6 committee digs into fake elector plot, issuing subpoenas to 6 more people
Source: CNN
(CNN)The House January 6 committee issued another round of subpoenas Tuesday as congressional investigators dig more deeply into illegitimate electors from key swing states that former President Donald Trump lost, who were put forward to try to justify delaying the certification of Joe Biden's victory.
The committee issued subpoenas to six individuals, including two members of the Trump campaign and four prominent GOP officials from battleground states, as part of its investigation into the US Capitol attack on January 6, 2021.
"The Select Committee is seeking information about efforts to send false slates of electors to Washington and change the outcome of the 2020 election. We're seeking records and testimony from former campaign officials and other individuals in various states who we believe have relevant information about the planning and implementation of those plans," the panel's chairman, Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, said in a statement.
The Trump campaign officials subpoenaed by the committee are Michael Roman, who was in charge of Election Day operations in 2020, and his deputy, Gary Michael Brown. Both "reportedly participated in efforts to promote allegations of fraud in the November 2020 election and encourage state legislators to appoint false 'alternate' slates of electors," according to the committee.

The group includes Michael Roman and Michael Brown, who worked on Election Day operations for Trump's 2020 campaign, as well as Mark Finchem, Arizona GOP Party Chair Kelli Ward, and former Michigan GOP Chair Laura Cox.
Finchem is now running to serve as Arizona's top election official, while Ward has sued to stop the committee from obtaining her and her husband's phone records.

(128,905 posts)This is only Mastriano's 2nd term and he had never run for elected office before 2018, so I don't think he had any political involvement in the casinos (he is retired military).
The district was originally PA-9 before the State Supreme Court threw out the GOP's 2011 mess and created a new map renumbering that area PA-13.

WAYNESBORO -- Retired Col. Doug Mastriano of Fayetteville has announced he is running for Congress.
Doug Mastriano of Fayetteville, Franklin County, is seeking the Republican nomination in 2018 to represent Pennsylvania's 9th Congressional District. The nation has changed since I was the age my son is now, when we all stood to inherit a greater, more prosperous, and more secure nation than our fathers had been given, Mastriano said. Something has changed dramatically, and not for the better. Mastriano, 54, is the latest candidate to vie for the Republican nomination in Pennsylvanias 9th Congressional District.
With U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Everett, not seeking re-election, the field is crowded. The six candidates hail from across the 12 counties in the district. 2018 is our year to get back our voice, Mastriano said. For far too long, the money of lobbyists has carried more weight in government than the priceless ideas of our Constitution. I am not in the pocket of special interests or lobbyists. I will fight for you in Washington. Its time to take back our government and restore the greatness of America. Now is our time to take action.
The time is, now for the good people of Pennsylvania to say no to the darkness -- no to the elite ruling class. Its time to get the government off of our backs, our throats, and out of our wallets.Mastriano, son of a career Navy man, retired in 2017 after serving 30 years in the Army, according to his campaign material. He patrolled the Iron Curtain in West Germany during the Cold War and served during the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. His regiment led the attack against Saddam Hussein's elite Republican Guards.
After assignments in Washington, D.C., he became the lead planner for the operation to invade Iraq from Turkey. He served four years with NATO, from where he deployed three times to Afghanistan where he served as the director of the Joint Intelligence Center. He also led and organized seven relief operations helping Afghan orphans. He is an expert on European security, Russia, the Middle East and Asia.

HARRISBURG - A strong field of GOP candidates are vying for the seat held by U.S. Rep. Bill Shuster, R-Everett.
American vote buttons illustration The Republicans running for the new 13th Congressional District seat include a state senator, a state representative, two men who previously ran for Congress, a retired Army colonel, a former Marine, a doctor and a businessman. Three are from Franklin County, two each are from Blair and Cumberland counties and one is from Bedford County.
Pennsylvanias new 13th Congressional District has a shape like the current 9th District represented by Shuster, who is not seeking re-election. The Cook Political Report rated the new 13th District as more solidly Republican than the current 9th District. The district stretches from Adams County west to part of Westmoreland County and north to Blair and Huntingdon counties.

(128,905 posts)Right now it seems they are in the process of subpoenas and document collection and depending on how responsive those subpoenaed are, and how long it takes for them to review the material, they can then schedule hearings and start their questioning (and they need that material first so they would know what questions to ask to clarify what they received). I expect some would be closed-door as well.
