Russia announces end of Crimea military drills, troops leaving

Source: The Economic Times

Russia on Wednesday said military drills in Moscow-annexed Crimea had ended and that soldiers were returning to their garrisons, a day after it announced a first troop pullback from Ukraine's borders.

"Units of the Southern Military District, having completed their participation in tactical exercises, are moving to their permanent deployment points," Moscow's defence ministry said in a statement, as state television showed images of military units crossing a bridge linking the Russian-controlled peninsula to the mainland.

As usual, this may just be Russian propaganda.

And Putin would lose nearly all credibility if he did it. I imagine he isn't so stupid.

Taking this news with a grain of salt for now, but I hope Putin really has figured out that invading Ukraine would be a really stupid move that would damage his and Russia's standing in the world immeasurably. And that's on top of all the sanctions that Biden is ready to rain down on him like a plague of locusts!

ex-president he was the sun, moon, and stars. This certain ex-president loved all the world's brutal dictators, but Vladimir Putin still holds a very special place in his black, desiccated heart.

And tfg tried his best to give putin a voice of the world srage, thankfully, to no avail.

But tfg's adoration of this bully indicates the opposite of credibility, imo..

I just can't bring myself to believe any statements coming from Russia or the Russian government. They lied too much over the Crimea and Donbas situation as well as Maidan. I just won't believe it until it's confirmed by multiple western sources.

13. Russia can't drive a tank from Crimea to main Ukraine without returning to mainland first

So this is not as peaceful as it might seem at first sight. That tank unit out of Crimea is more ready to go to mainland Ukraine, essentially.

15. Russian troops may well be "attacked" at some point, forcing them to "defend" themselves.

We have all done that at one time or another... Poland "attacked" Germany, American ships were attacked in the Gulf of Tonkin.
