Steve Dickson, the administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, has resigned, CBS News confirms. He will leave the administration at the end of March.
In an email to his employees obtained by CBS News, Dickson wrote that he wants to "devote my full time and attention" to his family.
"As I wrote in my letter to President Biden, it is time to go home. Although my heart is heavy, I am tremendously proud of everything we have accomplished together over the past several years," he said. "The agency is in a better place than it was two years ago, and we are positioned for great success. It has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve alongside you."
In his announcement, Dickson said he had been in the aviation industry for 43 years. He was nominated to lead the FAA by then-President Donald Trump in 2019.

(5,857 posts)I honestly think he's done a good job even if he does have former industry ties (he sold all of his Delta stock when he took the job). I know Boeing must be doing cartwheels to see him go.

(5,722 posts)Who told dim donnie to nominate him? He doesn't seem like the usual mobster dim donnie hobnobs with. Did Putin think it would have been too obvious to appoint some anti-science bell-end to tear down all the ATC towers and replace them with churches in the belief that air travel was only possible through the grace of Jehovah?

(130,895 posts)and Biden / Buttigieg kept him on. He was the chief pilot at Delta (an executive position), but honestly seemed very qualified, very safety-oriented, and did a good job not letting Boing walk all over him with the 737 Max and 787 issues. The 5g issues were a shitshow, but I kinda think that's because the cell carriers had snowed the FCC so badly about the issues.

He actually wasn't a half-bad administrator. Probably one of the few Trump appointees that was qualified to lead the Agency he was in charge of. He visited our facility a few years ago and seemed like a friendly, approachable guy who actually tried to understand the issues we have on the ATC side.
