The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering. Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.
I will be monitoring the situation from the White House this evening and will continue to get regular updates from my national security team. Tomorrow, I will meet with my G7 counterparts in the morning and then speak to the American people to announce the further consequences the United States and our Allies and partners will impose on Russia for this needless act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security. We will also coordinate with our NATO Allies to ensure a strong, united response that deters any aggression against the Alliance. Tonight, Jill and I are praying for the brave and proud people of Ukraine.

(4,344 posts)in the south, on the Black Sea is reporting attacks. If they are ground forces, they likely came from Moldova. But they could be aerial.
If there are any attacks coming from countries other than Russia, we need to come down hard on those countries too, effectively making them pariahs.

(4,344 posts)We have President Biden in the White House at this moment.
If Trump had made it into the white house we would have already been given to Putin by Trump and the Republicans....LOL NOT

(15,265 posts)As soon as Biden announced the US wouldn't spill its own blood to save Ukraine, the die was cast. In the end, Chinese pressure (to protect is own interests) on Russia is what will end this invasion.

(8,020 posts)Russian fighter jets have conducted airstrikes on the 25th & 93rd Ukrainian brigade bases in Dnepropetrovsk.
Russian troops land in Mariupol and Odessa
If these reports are true the first strike body counts will be one sided & massive.

(8,674 posts)Any outside interference. Stated they are a nuclear power. Guess this is considered genius by Trump, Pompeo, Fox and Bannon. Think of that. Putin threatens nukes against us and Allies, and the GQP are rooting for Putin. Christian, Prolife GQP. Time to take out Russian sympathizers right here, right now.

(36,269 posts)...when we attacked them without provocation, or pretended provocation with outrageous lies? Same as it ever was. Nobody's hands are clean, but no other country on Earth has worse war crime karma than the US since WWII. How many foreign garrisons and occupations does the US maintain? We protest WAY too much. It is just too freaking predictable. We always cheer the underdog, except when we're the overdog, which is more often than not, or when the military-industrial complex is turning a tidy profit. State violence is our primary export. Maybe we could, like, get ourselves in order before condemning others who take notes from our playbook.
Sorry, I'm just not gonna feign outrage at others when our government does the same shit when it suits their purpose.
