McConnell: 'Ratchet the sanctions all the way up'

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Thursday that President Biden should increase sanctions "all the way up" against Russia after Moscow began a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.

"Ratchet the sanctions all the way up. Don't hold any back," McConnell said while taking questions after roundtable briefings on the opioid and substance abuse epidemic.

"Every single available tough sanction should be employed and should be employed now," he added.

McConnell's remarks come after Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a military operation in Ukraine early in the morning on Thursday.

So seizing them would have little effect on Trump or Kushner. I suppose they could be renting the properties, but that kind of defeats the whole purpose of cleaning their money by buying real estate.

Besides, that just puts the government in charge of selling off assets in Trump or Kushner properties. Maybe they could repurpose the property into some homeless shelters.

I see the new GQP talking point is that president Biden needs to do more sanctions. The EU, especially Germany are opposed to banning Russia from SWIFT, it would cut off the EU from Russia's fossil fuels. I just heard Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell both say that the US should unilaterally ban Russia from SWIFT.
