D.C. Truck Convoy Organizer's Plan Sputters Like a Busted Engine
Source: Daily Beast
COLLEGE PARK, MARYLANDAt first, ardently MAGA trucker Bob Bolus vowed that his makeshift freedom convoy making a beeline from Scranton, Pennsylvania to D.C. this week would choke the nations capital like a boa constrictor in protest of vaccine mandates.
But on Wednesday, when his overhyped convoy turned out to be a piddly procession of one, Bolus backtracked, telling The Daily Beast that his plans have changed and he will not attempt to interfere with traffic.

(26,507 posts)Here's exactly what we should do to any of the participants in any street blocking convoys in this country.
Tell the participants that we will be recording license plates and taking their pics.
They will ultimately lose their trucks registrations and any participants and drivers will have their licenses revoked.
Force them to have to get lawyers to contest these actions. Tie them up for months with legal actions. Inconvenience them for as long as this can be strung out.
It will be hell for them not to be able to drive or to work for months or years - while this is in litigation.
That ought to get them to think twice before they create havoc in this country like the Canadian truckers caused.

(53,194 posts)A commercial truck has three registrations.
The first is the license plate. That comes from one of the states, and it doesn't necessarily have to be the one you're domiciled in - plenty of Arkansas-domiciled lines register their trucks in Indiana because taxes.
The second is the DOT number. This comes from the federal government, and it's required to operate a truck in commerce. The commerce can be on one city block, but because you're making money you need a DOT number.
The third is the MC (Motor Carrier) number. This is also federal, and it's required if you're in interstate commerce. You could be hauling freight one mile, but if there's a state line in that mile, you need the MC number.
I would go after the DOT number; without it you can't use the truck in commerce at all.

(26,507 posts)I'm not up on that type of info - but you got the gist of what I was recommending we do.
If it's the DOT number - so be it.
The only point I want to make is that if these people want to tie up the streets of our country - they should be ready to pay the consequences.
I want them to be inconvenienced - just as they are trying to inconvenience the people of the cities that they are intending on snarling up.
Let them know that we won't put up with this. If they want to protest - there are other ways to protest - without putting whole cities in gridlock.
Get permission from the city and march like all other groups do. Orderly and peacefully.

(53,194 posts)If you pull the MC number, the truck can still operate inside its state.
If you pull the license plate, not only couldn't the feds do it (it's a state-level function) but by doing so the truck couldn't be moved.
Pulling the DOT number allows the driver to drive it to a used-truck lot and sell it.

(26,507 posts)If you tell me we can't do it - do it anyway. Make them take legal action to get it back and use TFG's tactics to string it out as long as possible and make it costly and inconvenient for them. Tie it up in the courts.

(53,194 posts)How are they going to get jobs delivering pizzas, the only thing Id ever hire them for, with no drivers licenses? I figure them going from the big bucks you can make as a professional driver to $9.50 an hour plus tips as a pizza man will wake their delusional asses up.
Oh
and many pizza shops require vaxxing.

You are not going to see a convoy, Green admitted near the end of the night. As for Bolus, the lead convoy driver, Green declared that he didnt know where in the hell he is.
Both Green and Bolus, expressing disappointment over the days events, said they intended to leave the metro area Wednesday night and head back to Scranton.
This is just one battle in the war, Green added while saying they were going to try and locate I-270 to get back home.

Have been on I-495 W / I-495 S / I-495 E / I-495 N many times as well as I-270. One drop of rain, let alone the wet winter storm that is starting up down there (and here in Philly) is enough to bring the whole thing to a standstill. And don't get forced off onto I-66 and end up somewhere in D.C.

They wouldn't have even been able to create a jam because they would have already been stuck in one.

I wish we would take any of these antisocial scums with criminal charges and get them to agree to zero booze consumption for years. Make them pee in a cup for a couple of years and nickel and dime them with fees and fines. Stop your vehicle on a road and turn it off, reckless driving, etc. Pile on the driver licence points and carry on from there.
