Russia threatens 'military and political consequences' if Finland, Sweden try joining NATO

Source: The Hill

Russia threatened “military and political consequences” against Finland and Sweden on Friday if they attempted to join NATO.

Russian foreign ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova warned against other countries attempting to join NATO after Russia started a war with Ukraine Thursday.

“Finland and Sweden should not base their security on damaging the security of other countries and their accession to NATO can have detrimental consequences and face some military and political consequences,” Zakharova said in a viral clip of a press conference.

The ministry later posted the same threat on its Twitter. Finland and Sweden have given significant military and humanitarian support to Ukraine since Russia invaded.

Well, guess what?

Finland and Sweden, who are both not officially members of NATO, will be at a summit the alliance will host Friday.

I thought certain that he would digest Ukraine before threatening the sovereignty and security of his other neighbors. Just how big is his Army? Maybe he wants to fight a multi-front war like his mentor.

Finland gave the Bear an ass whipping that he didn't forget in the Winter War. He may want to back off of threatening them or they may slip out one night and take Leningrad when he isn't looking. NATO needs to shorten the membership process to that of a phone call saying, "We want in" and a reply of "You're in."

So Putin is not going to be happy with just the former Soviet Union. That is interesting information. He is going to have to be stopped. It would be better if it came from inside Russia, but if not, it is either call his gamble or fold Europe, leaving the US to face the world alone.

Who the hell does this guy think he is?!

Little Tin God. I hope Finland and Sweden collectively thumb their noses at him.

in his crib?

Putin has said he would use nuclear weapons against any country that gets in the way of his plans for world dominance. He is more of a sociopath than TFG. T***** would have jumped at the chance to launch nukes if his BFF told him to. In his warped mind such an action would be essential, and it would proven how tough he is.

This is a man who publicly asked why can’t we use our nuclear arsenal:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: The Japanese, where we bombed them in '45, heard it. They're hearing a guy running for president of the United States talking of maybe using nuclear weapons. Nobody wants to hear that about an American president.

TRUMP: Then why are we making them? Why do we make them?

Putin doesn't even go that far. He thinks about who should be his next target -- or targets. He should be stopped now.

They will join NATO. He's lost his mind - I think - brought
on by this rapidly deteriorating situation. His troops don't want
to fire on their Ukrainian cousins. They'll go through the motions -
but half-heartedly. I think he knows he overstepped badly, and
is feeling something he hasn't before: fear. Fear that his
oligarch colleagues will turn on him.
