Zelensky says Ukrainian forces 'repelling' Russian assault on Kyiv

MUKACHEVO, Ukraine — Government forces are “repelling” a Russian assault on the capital, Kyiv, President Volodymyr Zelensky said Saturday, although fighting continues. He called for tougher sanctions on Russia and for Ukraine to be admitted to the European Union.

Addressing Ukrainians in a video message posted on social media, Zelensky said: “We withstood and are successfully repelling the attacks of the enemy.” He added: “The fights continue in many cities and regions of our nation. But we know what we are defending — [our] country, land, children’s future. It is exactly our army that controls Kyiv and key cities around the capital.”

The embattled Ukrainian leader said that “the enemy used all missiles, fighters, drones, artillery, armored vehicles, saboteurs and landing forces against us” and destroyed residential buildings with rockets and artillery.

He urged all Ukrainians to “stop and destroy the occupiers” if they can. “All friends who want to join us in defense, come,” he said. “We will give you weapons.”

22. Not exactly - Chump and Rudy G. tried to blackmail Zelenskyy

Remember the summer of 2019 when Rudy went over to see Zelenskyy after he had just been sworn in as the new President? Rudy isn't even a diplomat and he has no authority to "make deals" for the US government. I'm sure Zelenskyy was already aware of that because he's no dummy. So Rudy told Zelenskyy to "find some dirt on Hunter Biden" and if he couldn't find anything then make something up. Rudy told him that he would get the military aid that was promised to Ukraine by the US government AS SOON AS HE GAVE THEM SOMETHING!

Zelenskyy knew this was an illegal shakedown because he's not stupid. He immediately announced what happened to the foreign press and of course our Congress had to act. That's what eventually brought about Chump's 1st impeachment (if you recall.) Ukraine was still going to get the military aide, but Chump and Giuliani tried to get something for it first.

Why is Rudy G. still walking around a free man? He should have been locked up in 2019.
