Manchin comes out against Biden Fed nominee Raskin, throwing her confirmation into doubt
Source: CNBC
Sen. Joe Manchin, the most conservative Democrat in the Senate, said Monday that he opposes one of President Joe Biden’s nominees to the Federal Reserve, leaving her candidacy to join the central bank with the slimmest of hopes. “I have carefully reviewed Sarah Bloom Raskin’s qualifications and previous public statements. Her previous public statements have failed to satisfactorily address my concerns about the critical importance of financing an all-of-the-above energy policy to meet our nation’s critical energy needs,” Manchin said in a statement. “I have come to the conclusion that I am unable to support her nomination to serve as a member of the Federal Reserve Board,” he added. Raskin is a former Fed governor and served as the deputy Treasury secretary in the Obama administration. Manchin’s formal opposition all but dooms Raskin’s bid to be the Fed’s next vice chair for supervision, one of the most powerful banking regulators in the world. While it’s possible Raskin could garner support from a moderate Republican, a Senate split 50-50 means anything but a unified Democratic party makes the odds of success for any presidential nominee perilous at best. He just has millions invested in coal, and wants to keep it. His state is also very coal-friendly, sad to say.

6. And Biden's BBB already has incentives that would help WV out
in their transition to a green economy. You'd think he'd sell his coal positions and invest heavily in the green new deal and profit off of that too, the skunk that he is!

49. I think it also depends on which industry contributes the most
to his 'campaigns.' He received over $400k from the coal industries in the span of two and half months last year.
Not surprising he'd ask for handouts from his state's largest industry (5.4% of the state's total GDP in 2021) from which he earns half a mil per year from his stock ownership. |

….that Mitch McTurtle has two of Manchin’s grandchildren locked up as hostages in an underground hideaway, allowing them one 15 second phone call per week to Grandpa from a throwaway cell phone.
There are few reasons left to pretend that his allegiance to the Democratic Party is something he wishes to be taken seriously. |

As what, his reward? Why do you think that is an appropriate thing to say? Do you not get how disgustingly misogynistic that is? Do you not get that being misogynistic is being misogynistic, even if the woman you are slurring is a "bad woman"? Should we call Ben Carson a nice racist slur? Come on, you know you can! Let's hear it! Maybe a big juicy antisemitic slam against Jared Kushner? Ohh wait, those two things are bad???

37. Apologies
This liberal 8 year veteran that saw fellow soldiers die fighting to save our democracy, carrying a bit of medal in my back, gets pretty worked up and sick in my gut at anybody on Putin’s payroll to destroy what so many died for. Make of female, if you are taking cash from that war criminal threatening to end earth, you are a whore. Whoring out your platform to spew Putin shit to get power to take us where Russia is. The eight that went to Moscow on 4th of July, all whores. Tulsi had one purpose, to help put that sick SOB Putin whore back in power. I will give her the same respect my dead brothers and sisters would.
Sincere apologies to those that do not fill my daily pain of loss and shrapnel. Brings out a bad side. Post deleted, with more consideration in the future. |

Should not have gone there. I was wrong. Seeing the country gutted from the inside out, the cancer spreading daily is disgusting. No need to be disgusting to try and make a point. Sometimes feels so many lives wasted, my time served a joke, brings me to a bad place and in a rash moment, embarrass myself. Promise to vet future comments. Deep apologies to those I offended. I respect and admire all women. Except Tulsi and Stein, Boebert and Green, and the thousands of men out to kill our country.

pocket book above the party's interests as well as the interests of all those who seek a stable and sustainable future environmentally, economically and socially. The Democratic majority is pretty much reduced to bullshit with him holding a Senate seat as a Democrat.
The problem with our political system is we have too few people with moral, economic and social principles including this greedy, self-centered and pompous prick. |

Manchin isn’t going to support anything that the Democrats want because he gets attention by being a detractor, and that is exactly what his handlers want him to be. We need to forget about him and move on because he will never cooperate. |

He can't bear the thought of someone having a good new idea. It's not even proper conservatism, in which people are careful about change. He is just happy as a pig in shit, stewing in his own crap, and he's buggered if he'll allow anyone to improve the lot of the world if it means hosing him down.
