Your memory is incorrect
Trump did not nominate anyone without a law degree to be a federal court judge. What I think you are remembering is that Trump nominated 9 individuals who were rated as "not qualified' by the ABA, most of whom were confirmed anyway. He had a few nominees withdraw, but not because they didn't have a law degree.
