Oklahoma's House passes a near-total abortion ban

Source: The 19th

Oklahoma’s state House on Tuesday voted 78-19 to pass a near complete ban on abortions, legislation that far surpasses Texas’ six-week ban. The bill is now headed to the Senate and, if passed, will be the strictest anti-abortion bill in the country.

The legislation — known as House Bill 4327 — bars a physician from performing or inducing an abortion at any point in the pregnancy unless it is “to save the life” of the pregnant person. Similar to Texas’ six-week abortion ban, the new legislation would allow private citizens to pursue civil actions of up to $10,000 against anyone who performs or “aids and abets in the provision of such an abortion.” An “emergency clause” adopted means that, if the bill is signed into law, it would take effect immediately.

“Abortion rights activists have been warning of this nightmare for months: These bounty hunter laws will have a domino effect across the country, as more and more states ban abortion entirely while Roe v. Wade is still the law of the land,” Elisabeth Smith, director of state policy and advocacy for the Center for Reproductive Rights, said in a statement.

But Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision that established a right to an abortion up until a fetus can live independently outside the womb, could be overturned as soon as this summer. The Supreme Court is expected to rule by June in a case known as Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. While the case ostensibly concerns a 15-week ban passed in Mississippi, the nine justices have been asked to consider whether Roe was wrongly decided and should be overturned entirely. Legal observers expect a conservative majority will issue a decision that either weakens or undoes the Roe v. Wade protection.

from passing a similar bounty law... that says that anyone from another state that sues a Californian for paying for a woman to to travel to California to get an abortion can be sued for $20,000.

I’m feeling certain that we’ll come up with some good stuff to counteract the assholes in these states.

Apparently, Oklahoma is "OK" with this since they elected the theocracy.

Is someone from Texas sues a Californian for providing a California legally protected right in an attempt to collect a Texas bounty, the Californian can file a SLAPPback suit for triple the damages.

The whole thing eventually gets thrown out, but the promised $10k payout gets eaten up in lawyer fees really quick.

The poverty rate in Oklahoma is 16.2%. One out of every 6.2 residents of Oklahoma lives in poverty. Well higher than the national rate.
According to 24/7, Oklahoma ranks 42nd out of 50.
So the repukes Oklahoma can't get their citizens out of poverty but they can pass abortion laws to control women with big government!
Hey you filthy Oklahoma scum here is a fact. If you get your people out of poverty the abortion rate will go down all by its self.
Christ did not ask us to help the poor.
He demanded we help the poor.
He said nothing about judging the poor.
He was real clear about who would do the judging.

Right out of that book they thump but don't follow.
After God formed man in Genesis 2, He “breathed into his nostrils the breath of life and it was then that the man became a living being”. Although the man was fully formed by God in all respects, he was not a living being until after taking his first breath.

The regressive states try forcing their horrific ideology on the liberal states with draconian and authoritarian laws. The Red states are going to introduce a law like this at the federal level. Mark my words.

Then it will be open season on pregnant women. Round them all up and send them back to the state they are fleeing. Thank an imaginary diety that my daughter lives in California.
