It was wrong': North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson says he paid for abortion in 1989

Source: WRAL

North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, a hard-line conservative who has long spoken out against abortion, said in a 2012 Facebook comment that he paid for the mother of his “unborn child” to have an abortion in 1989.

“I'm not saying abortion is wrong cause I said so it's wrong cause God says so,” the comment linked to Robinson's personal Facebook account said. “It's wrong when others do it and it was wrong when I paid for it to be done to my unborn child in 1989.”

Robinson, the highest-ranking state Republican in executive office and an expected gubernatorial candidate, was elected in 2020 on what his campaign calls a “pro-life” platform. Since taking office, he has continued to speak out against abortion at rallies.

At an anti-abortion rally in January 2021, Robinson said, "We allow the murder of the most innocent human beings on earth and we do it with impunity."

this is why Roe V. Wade isn't in total jeopardy. These hypocritical tools would be lost without it. OR...they'll just eliminate the option for all the little people and they will still go somewhere to have the procedure done regardless. Such scum....

Since "birth advocates" (they are not pro-life) who use the God-says-so schtick generally equate abortion with murder, Robinson is admitting being an accessory to murder.

But NOW it is wrong (the crisis long since over) so everything is OK.

The privilege and hypocrisy are sickening.

is a whole lot worse than applauding someone who had an affair. It makes then a sleazy low life, but it doesn't do nearly the damage of using your authority to sexually exploit another and then using the power of the church to belittle and minimize the impact on the poor victim.

At least the hypocrite did the right thing long ago and gave enough support to help the woman make a choice. Still he is a duplicitous, hypocritical creep.

No he didn't.

He's still going to be the BABY KILLER he accused everybody else of being, when he knew that he paid to have murdered in 1989. He talks constantly about how bad gay people are and about abortion being a moral in ever anti-abortion rally he's opened up his big, hypocritical mouth to attend.

The Reich-winged make everything about total absolutes, and he absolutely admitted to murdered an "innocent life" himself. He can never run from that, even if he could run, and he's so fond of saying that "God see's and knows all, " and God saw what he did when he paid to have that innocent life he murdered 31 years ago.

I hate reich-winged, male hypocrites like him, and I hope all of them can be exposed for doing the very "murdering of innocent life" that he condemned others to hell of. Pretty sure Rick Santorum still feels that being a woman impregnated by rape is a "good" thing.

It does have a lot to say about getting rid of undesirables including fetuses that are suspected of not being the product of the husband (see Trial of Bitter Waters).

And the priest shall cause her to swear, and shall say unto the woman: 'If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness, being under thy husband, be thou free from this water of bitterness that causeth the curse; but if thou hast gone aside, being under thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee besides thy husband--then the priest shall cause the woman to swear with the oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman--the LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to fall away, and thy belly to swell; and this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, and make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to fall away'; and the woman shall say: 'Amen, Amen.' And the priest shall write these curses in a scroll, and he shall blot them out into the water of bitterness. And he shall make the woman drink the water of bitterness that causeth the curse; and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her and become bitter.

Religious people have never really had a problem with murder as long as they can decide who gets killed. Murder has always been negotiable. Gotta save the fetus. . .police killing unarmed black people; well, they were thugs and should have obeyed.

And, when it comes to these Christian dominionists, if they aren't Christian (or their brand of it), murder is beyond acceptable.

He did not get elected as Lt. Governor on a pro-life platform.

The Lt. Governor in NC has no real duties and absolutely no power. I'd wager that most people in NC don't even know what the title means.

No, Robinson was elected in 2020 because a slew of Trump supporters came out of the woodwork to vote for their Savior Trump, and in the process they also voted for a lot of Republicans that they had probably never heard of. I doubt that any of the hardcore Trumpers cared one bit about who was elected Commissioner of Labor.

Most of the crazies probably didn't know who Robinson is, or that he is Black.

I guarantee that this correct. And, I bet that, once that they did find out, they either completely downplayed it or acted as if they had never even heard of him, much less voted for him. I would also love to ask him about all the LBGTQ deaths in my home state due to the efforts of those who profess to be followers of the deity who proclaimed, "Thou shalt not kill." Such a complete tool for the evangelical terrorists that are constantly trying to turn us into a theocracy.

God didn't "say so". Moses said God told him "thou shall not kill" (no one else witnessed it), and the Israelites proceeded to kill (and enslave) Canaanites to conquer the "Promised Land".

It must not have been a hard and fast rule...
