Trump Is Guilty of 'Numerous' Felonies, Prosecutor Who Resigned Says
Source: N.Y. Times
One of the senior Manhattan prosecutors who investigated Donald J. Trump believed that the former president was guilty of numerous felony violations and that it was a grave failure of justice not to hold him accountable, according to a copy of his resignation letter.
The prosecutor, Mark F. Pomerantz, submitted his resignation last month after the Manhattan district attorney, Alvin Bragg, abruptly stopped pursuing an indictment of Mr. Trump.
Mr. Pomerantz, 70, a prominent former federal prosecutor and white-collar defense lawyer who came out of retirement to work on the Trump investigation, resigned on the same day as Carey R. Dunne, another senior prosecutor leading the inquiry.
Mr. Pomerantzs Feb. 23 letter, obtained by The New York Times, offers a personal account of his decision to resign and for the first time states explicitly his belief that the office could have convicted the former president. Mr. Braggs decision was contrary to the public interest, he wrote.

(31,644 posts)to petition the governor to take the case away from Bragg and give it to another prosecutor, like Letitia.
I can see why Pomerantz is pissed, he agreed to work for free. He was the financial expert who sorted through all of Trump's documents.

(15,187 posts)The knee jerk "lock 'em up" chant chant makes us look like the MAGA gerbils.
Do we have a 'charge' we're prepared to level against this DA?
Some here are suggesting payoffs and bribery. If there is any substance to those claims (which to date we haven't seen) - that is one thing. On the other hand, unpopular decisions, (or righteous indignation as you point out) - aren't really grounds for jailing someone. And we should stop bleating this ridiculous mantra - all the while making ourselves look like authoritarian chumps.

A coup was attempted that appears to even include congress members and 2 SCOTUS justices
this on top of the numerous felony violations and our Justice Department is by all accounts from congressmen and journalists not doing anything at all.
This is sickening and I will never look at the country I was born and raised in the same again.

(31,644 posts)at least make the effort. I still believe that Letitia will nail Trump, but that's just a civil case.
I still see zero evidence that DOJ will go after the Big Fish.
Day 98 since the select committee sent the Mark Meadows criminal referral to DOJ.
Day 70 since the Michigan AG sent the fake elector referral to DOJ.
Looks like Steve Bannon is the only guy who DOJ indicted, Bannon will have to sue them since none of his cronies were indicted.
It will soon be Kornacki time when DOJ can't reveal ongoing investigations. Tick Tock.

Glad it hit the press. Now we know we were being gaslighted by Bragg.
Wonder what the OTHER resignation letter would reveal? But this one is bad enuf that Bragg NEEDS to answer for it.

(16,799 posts)The Manhattan DA is returning evidence to witnesses in its Donald Trump investigation, per The Daily Beast.
Two sources told the outlet that witnesses who gave evidence to prosecutors had been receiving it back recently.
Prosecutors generally return evidence to witnesses after an investigation has concluded, or when they no longer believe a crime has taken place.
