In Mykolaiv, Russia continues pattern of shelling hospitals

Source: Washington Post

MYKOLAIV, Ukraine — Mothers with newborn babies, a woman with a heart condition and elderly people who couldn’t walk on their own hurriedly evacuated to the basement of a Mykolaiv hospital on Sunday night as the booming thuds of artillery drew closer.

They made it down to shelter just in time. Five minutes after patients and staff had crowded into the cramped underground hallway, a suspected cluster munition landed right next to the building. The blast shattered nearly all of the windows.

It made for an eventful first night for Bohdan, who was born in the makeshift bomb shelter after his mother, Vitalina, and others from the maternity ward made the most harrowing journey to safety, from the hospital’s top floor.

“The Russians are animals; there’s no other explanation,” said Bohdan’s grandmother Vlada. The family declined to provide their surnames out of concerns for their safety.

7. We are acting

We're shoving a hell of a lot of expensive technology Ukraine's way, giving them the tools they need to drive Russia back across its original border. Other things, like divvying up the oil and gas supply outside Russia so that the burden isn't completely on Europe will take a little more time, but eventually the taps will be off. Tightening the financial noose is also ongoing. He'll try to jack up the prices on what he ships to China, but I don't imagine Xi will be particularly amused, they're having a bit of a real estate bubble crisis right now.

If you're suggesting we send troops and our air force to directly engage with Russia, I'm afraid that is a very bad idea.

I am afraid there is very little we can do to stop the Russian army acting like a bunch of drunk, sociopathic frat boys with weapons of war. The best we can do there is send in forensic teams after the fact.

10. Yes, I understand, but I also see we really need to help them secure their skies and knock out

The threat to Odessa. If Odessa were to become besieged, Ukraine would have a very difficult time with resupply

11. They either are getting or have gotten anti aircraft missiles for that purpose

What they need to be able to knock out is heavy artillery that will undoubtedly be shifted south from Mariupol ASAP.

Again, engaging directly with Russia is a pretty stupid idea. Yes, their ground game is outmoded and their command structure shite, but they still have ICBMs and even though their guidance systems are rubbish compared to ours, they don't have to be all that accurate to fuck us up completely.

I'm convinced the only reason they haven't used battlefield nukes in Ukraine is because the fallout pattern would go right over Putin's pleasure palace on the Black Sea. He wouldn't have that concern with US targets, not for a few weeks, at any rate. So let's not send in troops or the Air Force just yet, m'kay?

12. Your knowledge is obviously superior, and I get it what you are saying

Listening to other experts Lt. Colonel Vindman, Petrius, CP Scott a military professional- army vet that taught and trained Ukrainians in Germany and has vast knowledge of the area, all seem to be leaning towards some kind of intervention. Not boots on the ground, but bigger weapons capable of knocking out jets and the ships in the Black Sea. Possibly some MIG jets being transferred from Bulgaria?

I am aware of the disgusting billion dollar estate he has and issues of fallout, so yes a good deterrent.

FYI: you can find CPScott on YouTube if interested. He does very thorough updates sometimes twice a day.

I'm well aware of what war hawks have been saying. At this point, I think the job can be done without direct confrontation. Maintaining an economic and technological blockade in the Black Sea is one thing. Firing on Russian warships is quite another.

My greatest fear about any nuclear exchange has always been that I would survive it.

NATO will do nothing to stop them. The Russians will go from atrocity to atrocity because it has nuclear weapons and NATO does not have the stomach to effectively respond.

It's scary that we can't do anything other than what we are doing. It's also scary to think one button pushed and a US city could be leveled by a Russian nuke.

Then we nuke them, then most of the World would be gone.

All that would be left is Political elites and the super rich living in underground fortresses. Most of us would be dead or dying a slow death.

I don't believe in hell, but I hope there is one and that putin will join the likes of hitler in eternal pain and suffering—because he obviously doesn't give a shit about anything but himself—just like tfg.
