Supreme Court reinstates Trump-era water rule, for now

Source: Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Wednesday reinstated for now a Trump-era rule that curtails the power of states and Native American tribes to block pipelines and other energy projects that can pollute rivers, streams and other waterways.

In a decision that split the court 5-4, the justices agreed to halt a lower court judge’s order throwing out the rule. The high court's action does not interfere with the Biden administration's plan to rewrite the rule. Work on a revision has begun, but the administration has said a final rule is not expected until the spring of 2023. The Trump-era rule will remain in effect in the meantime.

The court’s three liberal justices and Chief Justice John Roberts dissented. The court’s other conservative justices, including three nominated by President Donald Trump, voted to reinstate the rule.

Writing for the dissenters, Justice Elena Kagan said the group of states and industry associations that had asked for the lower court's ruling to be put on hold had not shown the extraordinary circumstances necessary to grant that request.

If Roberts isn't in the majority, then as the most senior justice, (In)Justice Clarence "Uncle Slappy" Thomas gets to decide who writes the opinion.

This clown had no business ever being on the court to begin with and he certainly has no business being on it now. He is unqualified, unfit and compromised beyond doubt.

If they deign to drink tap water at all, it's tap water that comes from a municipal source that has access to clean, purified drinking water. Or they drink the bottled stuff Nestle or some other huge company swiped from a public source, put in a one-use bottle and sells for more than gasoline. The likes of Alito, Barrett, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh have never had to deal with the likes of Flint, MI water. Same with all the other environmental laws they'll gut: as long as the lawns at their country clubs are kept green, and the air conditioning is set right, they won't be affected by the climate issues the rest of us will have to deal with.

1. Roll back any and all federal regulations/restrictions on corporations to the 1880s.

2. Cancel all federal services to individuals.

3. Return to "States Rights" when those rights include stripping women and minorities of any and all rights granted by federal laws since the founding.

4. Merge Church and State.
