Ukraine's defense ministry said it found 132 "tormented bodies" of tortured, murdered citizens in the town of Makariv, after Russian forces retreated.

The ministry said it uncovered "new monstrous war crimes," saying the town is "half ruined."

1. "Tormented". I suppose that we have become somewhat used to "tortured". Tormented seems.....

....to add an element of immediacy to this kind of news and, at least to me, makes it even more horrible to think about. It seems to go right to the victim's souls.

6. Horrific video. Russians forced civilians to beg on their knees for their lives.

And then shot them anyway.

And for those who refused to get on their knees, they shot them in the legs, then after they fell, they shot them in the head like their neighbors.
