Texas repeals immigration order that caused border gridlock
Source: L. A. Times
AUSTIN, Texas Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday repealed his traffic-clogging immigration order that backed up commercial trucks at the U.S.-Mexico border after a week of intensifying backlash and fears of deepening economic losses.
Pressure was building on Abbott to retreat as gridlock at the border worsened and frustration mounted. The American Trucking Assn. called the inspections wholly flawed, redundant and adding considerable weight on an already strained supply chain.
Abbott, who is up for reelection in November and has made the border his top issue, fully lifted the inspections after reaching agreements with neighboring Mexican states that he says outline new commitments to border security. The last one was signed Friday with the governor of Tamaulipas, who this week said the inspections were overzealous and created havoc

Glad it's over. Abbott is going to claim a win by saying Mexico will deploy more personnel at the border to deter migrants.
Probably will have little to no effect on the actual flow of refugees and migrants.

He wasn't just bunging up the supplies in Texas, he was hurting the whole center of the country. Mexican grown produce is going everywhere, especially now that drought has made California much less of a producer.

Mexico-based trucking companies taking jobs, profits from U.S. drivers, officials said
Groups representing owner-operator truck drivers and small carriers have urged the government to investigate whether Mexico-based carriers pose economic harm to the U.S. trucking industry.
The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters sent a joint letter Tuesday asking the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) to investigate if the U.S. long-haul trucking industry is materially harmed by an increase in cross-border trucking services provided by Mexican suppliers.
Because Mexico-based trucking companies and drivers are not held to the same, rigorous U.S. safety and security regulations, they are endangering the American public and taking away jobs and profits from American drivers and carriers, said Todd Spencer, the president of OOIDA, in a release.
