CNN Exclusive: Mark Meadows' 2,319 text messages reveal Trump's inner circle communications before a
Source: CNN
and after Jan 6
CNN has obtained 2,319 text messages that former President Donald Trump's White House chief of staff Mark Meadows sent and received between Election Day 2020 and President Joe Biden's January 20, 2021 inauguration.
The vast trove of texts offers the most revealing picture to date of how Trump's inner circle, supporters and Republican lawmakers worked behind the scenes to try to overturn the election results and then reacted to the violence that effort unleashed at the US Capitol on January 6, 2021.
The logs, which Meadows selectively provided to the House committee investigating the January 6 attack, show how the former chief of staff was at the nexus of sprawling conspiracy theories baselessly claiming the election had been stolen. They also demonstrate how he played a key role in the attempts to stop Biden's certification on January 6.
The never-before-seen texts include messages from Trump's family -- daughter Ivanka Trump, son-in-law Jared Kushner and son Donald Trump Jr. -- as well as White House and campaign officials, Cabinet members, Republican Party leaders, January 6 rally organizers, Rudy Giuliani, My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell, Sean Hannity and other Fox hosts. There are also text exchanges with more than 40 current and former Republican members of Congress, including Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas and Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio, Mo Brooks of Alabama and Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

(33,360 posts)Sure, plenty are going to be cretins like Ginny Thomas spamming Meadows, but there should be enough that show this was serious sedition.
That said, they have a right to do all the time-wasting, objecting crap that's outlined in Our Dumb Constitution.

(33,360 posts)Probably took out the most seditious texts, or at least the ones that made him look like a traitor.

And PS, the time-wasting is not outlined in the Constitution.

(63,219 posts)That is, rather than acting today, he's apparently waiting for a "better" or more pressing opportunity.
I've been scolded once or twice by our resident Message Police for my lack of faith in The System. The assure me that The System is working, and if I express impatience or doubt, then I'm the real problem.
It seems to me that if Garland had anything in the queue, we'd be seeing a specific counter-strategy from Trump and his throng of lawyers intended to preemptively discredit any pending charges. Since we've seen nothing of the kind, not even a damning "oops" revelation from The Fuckface Guy himself, it seems reasonable to conclude that Garland is, indeed, keeping his powder very, very dry.

(11,885 posts)Knowing what's come out today, and what going to be coming out showing she lied under oath, and took part in the sedition . Ted Cruz also is another serial liar and criminal who should be very worried, especially when he and others find out there's a lot more evidence then they know on many of them. Is very nice seeing CNN reporting this now. Will they uncover some destruction of evidence? I'd bet on it from these people.

(220 posts)Reading the article one gets the impression that the messages were part of normal pre and post-election background noise of a losing political party and administration and not a conspiracy to defraud America, planning for a coup and creating an insurrection. The media, in general, sucks. CNN, as a bastion of mediocrity and conservative ignorance, even more.

(38,439 posts)Medows chose those text messages to turn over. As loyal Trump supporter...(is he still that? I don't know). Meadows
would only present those that do NOT incriminate Trump. Some may loosely incriminate some of the family, but
nothing that would criminally prove Trump is a criminal..Will there be ..."More to Come"? Yes, I believe more will
leak out with those who are remotely involved in this. This probe is not close enough to Trump yet to indict him,
but as the while turns, it will get closer and closer. Ruskin says that there is more to come too. That the public hearings
will expose more and more. Yes, it is slow and tedious. That is how justice works. Hopefully we will all see the
final Act of this play. But
