(40,817 posts)The Satanic Temple is an activist organization not to be confused with The Church of Satan.

And their flag rocks! The goat, the pentagram, & the rainbow.

Christian Fascists and their incredibably stupid and myopic views on "Religious Rights" has always been fraught with the obvious. but for reasons I'll never ever understand is how this obvious conflict flies in the face of their idea of supremacy over and above all other religious cult beliefs as regards to our laws and the Constitution.
Not a supporter of any religion as I believe they are all cults. including satanism. but hell, I very much want to hear their arguments and the responses from these justices just for the record.

And that wouldn't be the reading the framers intended. Then they'll quote Ethan Allen, who was an anti-federalist.

(12,755 posts)What does offend me is American flags with trumps mug on Stallone body with assault rifle imposed on it. Or the multiple colors imposed on the red white and blue, (Blue and Black). Hate to say it, even as a vet, but just seeing the American Flag lately riles me up. Because its been hijacked by a traitorous cult. Its usually accompanied with trump shit or Lets Go Brandon shit.

(11,565 posts)I hate the fact that I feel that way seeing a flag pretty much since the Bush years

(3,222 posts)I also feel the same. Almost ashamed to fly our flag because of how they perverted it. It certainly lost its appeal.
About the only thing I think would redeem our US flag would be if we added a couple stars, shaped like DC, Puerto Rico, and Guam. Or dropped a few stars by combining the Dakotas with Montana and Idaho, then adjusted the senate accordingly

(11,098 posts)The satanic flag over Boston will just reinforce a stereotype for too many and likely be ignored. Austin, TX might be a better choice.

(25,392 posts)Druids would be the religious group for the Celts.
bucolic_frolic
(54,536 posts)The Celts had "a highly sophisticated religious system, with three types of Druids: the Bards, who knew the songs and stories of the tribe, the Ovates, who were the healers and seers, and the Druids who were the philosophers, judges, and teachers."

(26,366 posts)1 - They wil let them fly the Satanic flag.
2 - They will give up the idea of letting groups fly their flag altogether.
3 - They'll refuse to fly the satanic's group flag and the matter will eventually go to the courts again where Boston will lose again.

(6,115 posts)The SCOTUS said all or none, right? Then the city has no right to pick and choose. You can see where this is going, right? The city is going to deny some entity and be in violation of the law.

(27,495 posts)The State of Massachusetts is under no obligation to honor any religion. So, there should be no displaying of any flag for any religion. End of problem.
onenote
(46,068 posts)The underlying rationale of the decision is that the City has created a public forum on its property and the speech represented by the flags is not the City's speech. And the City cannot display hostility towards religion by refusing to allow religious entities to make use of the public forum.
The City could change its policies (and probably will) to eliminate access to the flagpole by any non-governmental entity, so that it no longer is a public forum.

And before I get any grief for that, I have known many wonderful people who profess the Christian faith and follow the teachings of Jesus regarding loving one's neighbor, etc. I reserve the scare quotes for those who call themselves believers but act with hatred towards anyone they disagree with.

(4,688 posts)This wouldn't be an issue if the goddamned Christo fascists on the court weren't intent on ramming Christianity down everyone's throats. If the Christian flag can fly, well, the door is open for everyone else.
