Deadly church shooting motivated by Taiwan-China conflict: Police

Source: abc

The deadly shooting at a church in Laguna Woods, California, on Sunday, was motivated by the political tension between China and Taiwan, authorities said Monday.
The suspect was identified Monday in Orange County jail records as 68-year-old Las Vegas resident David Chou. He is expected to be charged with one count of murder and five counts of attempted murder and is being held on $1 million bail, jail records show.
Chou is Chinese but an American citizen, officials said. He lived alone in Las Vegas and has a wife and child who are not living in the U.S.
The shooting occurred during a lunch banquet being held at the church, which caters to the Taiwanese population in Southern California.

where he felt he was an outsider, and his anti-Taiwan views were not accepted, Barnes said."

Chou's wife and son still live in Taiwan, but Chou has lived alone in the U.S. for many years, Barnes said, adding that Chou's views have become more radical as tensions between China and Taiwan have escalated.

Investigators found writings in Chou's car that described his hatred for Taiwan, Barnes said, adding that they were not a manifesto, but rather "notes." Authorities hypothesize that Chou may have targeted the Orange County church because it was the closest, Barnes said.

I guess anti-Taiwan views are not accepted in Taiwan. No one could have foreseen that.

Like most mass shooters, we're not dealing with the sharpest tool in the shed.

Again, we need to get OUT of China. Stop giving them the money to use against us.

1: Taiwan is part of China
2: Tibet has always been part of China
3: Tiananmen Square was started by westerners

This is what she has been programed to believe. . .until she met me.

Oh, I can see Taiwan rejoining China in the distant future, when there are more reasons to join than there are to stay quasi independent. Men like Chou think this stuff can be accomplished by bullying.

They're dead wrong. See: Ukraine.

it's "China v. the World" and everyone is out to destroy them.

They have pandered to xenophobia, nativism, jingoism, and ethnocentrism since he took office.

Every time someone comes out that paints China in a bad light, it's either "fake news," "what-about-you-ism," or "they just don't understand our problems."

Their scapegoat are foreigners. As reported there, COVID did not start in Wuhan. It either started in Italy or Moderna created it and then infected the Chinese with it through the military or the CIA.

Of course, it's factless, baseless, and uses circular logic to prove it's point, as well as goal post moving to keep it going.

It's a loss of face to say "wow, I was told wrong." The best you will get is "well, maybe. That's your opinion." Especially if you prove that the idea being forced down their throats is factually and logically unsound.
