Trump and two children set to testify July 15 in New York civil probe

Source: NBC News

Former President Donald Trump and his two eldest children, Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, are set to testify next month in the New York attorney general's civil probe into the family's business practices.

The three will testify beginning July 15, according to a court order and stipulation. The parties have until the end of the following week to conclude the depositions and each member of the family will testify separately.

Their testimony won’t occur on that date in July if the state’s highest court, the Court of Appeals, issues a stay of the judge’s order that the Trumps must testify, according to court documents.

I'm sure there will be no admission of guilt, even after being presented with over-whelming evidence. "Here are the documents you signed attesting to the truth contained therein." "I sign a lot of documents......"

as pleading the 5th in a criminal case. In a civil case, pleading the 5th, basically remaining silent, can actually indicate that you have something to hide.

Any legal eagles out there who can confirm?

can invoke their fifth amendment privilege if the judge allows it. In cases where the civil defendant may be exposed to criminal liability from testimony involved in the civil trial, defendants can be granted the right to not incriminate themselves in a statement or answer to a question but their silence and refusal to answer can be weighed and infer culpability in the civil trial where it can't be used to infer guilt in a criminal trial.

Trump and his offspring are definitely open to criminal prosecution in relation to their financial chicanery so I would expect them to ask and be granted the right to not answer some questions. But ultimately, that piece of crap will do whatever he wants and probably face no serious criminal threat.

They trusted their accountants to do the right thing and if something is wrong it must be because they screwed up...next question. Waste of time.

Don Jr is 44 and Ivanka is 40. Using the word “children” for them seems infantilizing.

Reading the headline, I pictured actual "children" for a second, perhaps because it didn't say "Trump and HIS two children".

A way to garner sympathy perhaps? "Oh those poor children who tried desperately to stop their demented father from doing all those bad things..."

Children my lily white ass. They were in on it up to the point that they got smart and could see the handwriting on the wall that they were going to tainted for the rest of their lives.

The more they parade through the legal system the longer they are free. I don’t care where any Trump is unless it’s somewhere they pay for their lawlessness.

Enough talk, lock them up. Before they do it to others.
