New vaccine may be option for troops with religious concerns

WASHINGTON (AP) A COVID-19 vaccine that could soon win federal authorization may offer a boost for the U.S. military: an opportunity to get shots into some of the thousands of service members who have refused other coronavirus vaccines for religious reasons.
At least 175 active duty and reserve service members have already received the Novavax vaccine, some even traveling overseas at their own expense to get it. The vaccine meets Defense Department requirements because it has the World Health Organizations emergency use approval and is used in Europe and other regions. The Food and Drug Administration is considering giving it emergency use authorization in the U.S.
The Novavax vaccine may be an acceptable option for some of the 27,000 service members who have sought religious exemptions from the mandatory vaccine. Military officials say many troops who refuse the shots cite certain COVID-19 vaccines remote connection to abortions.
Laboratory-grown cell lines descended from fetuses that were aborted decades ago were used in some early-stage testing of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines and to grow viruses used to manufacture the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. The vaccines do not contain fetal cells. Novavax, however, says that no human fetal-derived cell lines or tissue were used in the development, manufacture or production of its vaccine.

(111,255 posts)and all the modern vaccines were tested on that one fetal tissue line from the 70s. I have no idea why this vaccine was considered so different that these fools were allowed to say no.
I have very little patience these days for people who plead religious hysteria in the face of facts about a potentially deadly disease.

(111,255 posts)boils down to "terrified of needles."
I've always found it hilarious that guys who faced war and/or have been charged by bears are so terrified of needles, but they are.
Pro tips: sit them down abd turn the TV to Pox with the sound way up. Trying to upskirt the bottle blondes talking shite keeps them occupied while you stab them. Just make sure they're sitting, some of them still faint.

Most immunizations are given by something that looks like a gun, so they didn't mind those. Show them a needle, they'd better be sitting down or you'll have to pick them off the floor.
however, if it's a case of not letting the side down over their traitorous Messiah, general discharge, good luck getting a job, fella.

(17,288 posts)How many have been divorced
How many take other prescription and over the counter drugs that also rely on past abortion cells
How many tithe, literally 100 percent
Etc
After that funnel I bet about 25 people remain as religious

(2,957 posts)From an older article about hospitals requiring their staff to get vaccinated, it is pointed out that that most of the myriad vaccines that hospital staff are required to get - and have indeed gotten - were developed using cells derived from fetal stem cells of a long time ago.
Additionally, an Arkansas hospital listed a lot of drugs - both prescription and over-the-counter - that were tested or developed with the use of old stem call lines. These include:
Acetaminophen, albuterol, aspirin, ibuprofen, Tylenol, Pepto Bismol, Tums, Lipitor, Senokot, Motrin, Maalox, Ex-Lax, Benadryl, Sudafed, Preparation H, Claritin, Prilosec, and Zoloft.
So, we have to assume that all of these conscientious objectors are abstaining from those medicines, too.
