MADISON, Wis. (AP) A Wisconsin judge on Friday found the investigator hired by Republicans to look into former President Donald Trumps 2020 loss in the battleground state in contempt because of how his office responded to open records requests related to the probe.
The ruling against the office led by Michael Gableman, a former Wisconsin Supreme Court justice who briefly worked for Trump, came after Gableman berated the judge and refused to answer any questions on the witness stand. Gableman had not wanted to testify, but Dane County Circuit Judge Frank Remington ordered him to appear.
Remington did not immediately announce a penalty in court on Friday, saying he would provide that in a written decision.
Gableman was hired a year ago by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, under pressure from Trump to investigate the former presidents loss to President Joe Biden by just under 21,000 votes in Wisconsin. The investigation has cost taxpayers about $900,000 so far.

(13,480 posts)They are truly the party of insurrection and as such should be disbanded. Of course that wont happen because Republican voters seem to love two things: corruption and gun violence.

I sincerely hope the hearings result in indictments and I even more sincerely hope people realize there is more at stake than pwning the libbies, that they could get badly hurt by that rotten excuse for a political party.

Gableman went searching for missing votes in Germany, Italy, China and Japan. All on the taxpayer's dime.

I think every 3-4 decision he was involved in during his 10 years on the bench should be reviewed, and possibly voided. He clearly has contempt for the people as well as the law.

And he's a former Wis. State Supreme Court Justice!!! Maybe someone should go back and look at every case where this clown voted in the majority? If he was a cop or a lab tech they would.
