Dr. Anthony Fauci tests positive for COVID

Source: ABC

Dr. Anthony Fauci, a senior adviser to the president on the pandemic, has tested positive for COVID-19.

Fauci hasn't had recent close contact with President Joe Biden or other senior officials, according to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.

Fauci, who has mild symptoms, tested positive via a rapid antigen test, according to the NIAID.

He's fully vaccinated and received two boosters, the NIAID said in a statement.

But at this point I am almost resigned to the fact that I probably will get it at some point despite the fact that I have been cautious.

I’ve been fighting what seems like allergy symptoms. Thinking about home testing.

We’re all going to get it at some point. It will become the new flu.

I'm surprised that he has been able to hold out this long... but then Omicron is so much more transmissible.

(even while making public statements contrary to his own actions) and making smart decisions about risk - like skipping the correspondent's dinner.

Unfortunately, he chose to be unmasked at an event on 6/11.

It only takes one slip-up.

On June 11, Fauci went to the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where the college renamed the science center the Anthony S. Fauci Integrated Science Complex. Fauci was seen with and without a mask in photos.

Sigh...

I know they have been giving speeches at podiums and remarks at hearings/panels, etc., maskless, and I expect as long as there is some distance between people, then that would be a little mitigation. But at a college? Seems all bets are off.

And here you have it and I need say no more -

So, while he has generally been making smart decisions, he isn't the most careful person there is. Many are still universally masking.

Handwashing/foodwashing is mostly theater as to COVID, since COVID largely does not past by fomites.

Masking is incredibly effective. There were just too many lies/misinformation perpetuated in the beginning, so now people who don't want to mask use those lies to justify being careless. Aside from formal studies, go look at the downturn in new COVID cases in areas 2 .)weeks after masks were made mandatory. (There are also studies confirming it - but watching the curve is pretty convincing.)

I think what Dr. Fauci's infection shows us, infection is very likely no matter how careful we are.

The hope is that being fully vaccinated and masked will prevent serious symptoms.

25. I really think it's this 5 day quarantine rule
Thu Jun 16, 2022, 10:16 AM
Jun 2022

The CDC established that is causing this new surge of COVID. Fauci couldn't have caught it by not wearing his mask, if someone infected wasn't there to spread it.

I know of several people who after 5 days of quarantine, went back to work pushed by their employers. And sure enough when they retested 3 to 5 days after they had tested negative, they were positive again or still? So they were out and about unknowingly spreading it to all their customers for a week.

I'm not going to get it. I'm masking, double masking sometimes. I'm doing curbside pick up only and scheduled for another booster the end of the month. I only do outside events.

I don't care that most people who catch it go around saying, "oh, everyone is going to catch it eventually." That is just rationalization for their carelessness, unwillingness to take precautions, or our broken public health care system.

And yeah there are times I wear a mask outside alone ...but that's because I'm cleaning the chicken coop, sheep pen or spray painting. And anti-maskers never complained about wearing masks in those situations. And it also would only take one time of not washing my hands or wearing a mask to catch histoplasmosis, salmonella and campylobacter from animal feces. So masks are like second nature to me.
