Evidence suggests Newsmax knew 2020 election fraud claims 'were probably false,' judge says in Domin

Source: MSN

A judge has rejected Newsmax's effort to dismiss a defamation case brought against it by the voting software company Dominion, ruling that the right-wing media outlet pushed allegations of widespread fraud in the 2020 election that it likely knew at the time were not true.

In 2021, Dominion sued Newsmax over such claims, seeking $1.6 billion in damages over claims aired by the network that its vote-counting software had been used to steal the election. Newsmax had sought to have the defamation suit thrown out, arguing it was an attempt to limit free speech.

But in a June 16 ruling, Judge Eric M. Davis of the Superior Court of the State of Delaware wrote that Dominion had provided sufficient evidence for the case to move forward.

In fact, Davis wrote, the company's lawsuit supported "the reasonable inference that Newsmax either knew its statements about Dominion's role in the [alleged] election fraud were false or had a high degree of awareness that they were false."

Davis noted public evidence that the vote was not stolen, including statements from the Trump administration's own Department of Justice. A Nov. 12, 2020, statement, for example, issued by the federal Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency and cosigned by leading election security officials, stated that there was "no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised."

...the media organizations themselves, but also individual hosts of various "news" programs. I think something like a half-dozen Fox employees are being sued. PillowMan is on the hook for around $2B. And the worst of the worst of Drumpf's legal team (Sidney Powell) is probably going to be disbarred.

As the kids say, "fuck around and find out!".

A GOP commission in New Mexico won't recognize primary results because its members say they distrust Dominion voting machines

A three-member GOP commission has refused to certify the results of the June 7 primary election in Otero County, New Mexico, prompting New Mexico's secretary of state to sue them in the state's Supreme Court. Secretary of State Maggie Toulouse Oliver, a Democrat, asked the court on Tuesday to order the county commission to recognize the votes, per the Associated Press.

The commission had on June 9 cited concerns with the Dominion vote-tabulating machines used in the election, though it didn't specify the exact issue, the outlet reported.

According to Alamogordo Daily News, the commission's members asked that all the ballots cast using Dominion machines be recounted manually and that all ballot drop boxes allowing for absentee voting be removed. Per the outlet, the commission also requested that the Dominion tabulators not be used until the November midterm elections.

These instructions have introduced a standoff that could delay the upcoming local general elections as the Republican county clerk responded by refusing to hand count the votes, per the AP. A court order is required for a manual recount to be conducted.

misinformation is still being used...

New Mexico....

Pretty straight forward. They should keep upping the amount since those networks have clearly not done enough to undo their misinformation campaign.
