FBI seizes Nevada GOP chairman's phone as part of fake elector investigation

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — FBI agents served a search warrant Wednesday on Nevada’s top GOP official, sources told the 8 News Now I-Team’s George Knapp.

Agents seized the cell phone of state Republican chairman Michael McDonald, reportedly as part of an investigation into the fake elector scheme initiated at the end of the 2020 presidential election.

A second search warrant was issued for state party secretary James DeGraffenreid, who also signed the document, but FBI agents could not locate him Wednesday, sources told Knapp.

In December 2020, the 8 News Now I-Team reported the Nevada Republican Party’s six electors signed paperwork signaling their support for former President Donald Trump in a symbolic ceremony devoid of any legal merit, which was held in Carson City and coincided with the official state-sanctioned tally on Dec. 14, 2020.

It's almost as if the DOJ investigation is methodical, not geared to making the blogosphere happy.

I don’t know who Degraffenreid is, but if he’s a friend of McDonald, he’s a creep by association. I’m surprised McDonald isn’t a resident of a penal facility. It’ll happen sooner or later.

11. DOJ could have investigated this a year and a half ago,

the National Archives received the fake elector documents a year and a half ago. Also, the National Archives has had to make criminal referrals to DOJ before it took action. The Michigan SOS had to make a criminal referral 5 months ago before DOJ took action against the fake electors. The Michigan SOS made the further statement that if DOJ failed to act against the Michigan fake electors, she would.

It looks to me like DOJ needs to be a bit more methodical, it had to suspend the trials of Proud Boys until December or beyond.

It is fantastic that DOJ is going after the fake electors, great news, I feel zero remorse in saying, it's about time, why doesn't every member share my feelings? It's about time. I never ever wanted DOJ to indict people quickly, NEVER. I wanted DOJ to investigate people quickly, before memories fade, before evidence is destroyed, before traitors get together to get there lies coordinated. No good prosecutor believes it is best to wait to investigate and then indict. Having to build a case from the bottom up is poppycock, Fani Willis is going for the head of the snake.

Will there be any evidence left? I’m glad they’re doing it now, but the FBI should have been doing this many months ago.
