Russian missiles hit centre of Kyiv as world leaders gather in Europe

Source: Reuters

Russia missiles struck the Ukrainian capital Kyiv on Sunday, a day after a key eastern city fell to pro-Russian forces in a major set-back for Ukraine and as world leaders gathered in Europe to discuss further sanctions against Moscow.

As Europe's biggest land conflict since World War Two entered its fifth month the Western alliance supporting Kyiv was starting to show signs of strain. Britain on Saturday said it believed Ukraine could win, but feared it may be pressured into a "bad" peace deal.

Russian missiles hit Kyiv's central Shevchenkivskiy district on Sunday morning, partially destroying a nine-storey apartment building and causing a fire, the city's mayor Vitali Klitschko said on the Telegram messaging app.

"There are people under the rubble," Klitschko said. He added that several people had already been hospitalised.

"They (the rescuers) have pulled out a seven-year-old girl. She is alive. Now they're trying to rescue her mother."

At least five people were wounded, the head of Ukraine's police force, Ihor Klymenko, said on national television.

The Russian people and certainly Putin have been insulated from the horrors of this invasion. That can’t and won’t continue. If the Russian people are happy with the refrigerators and washing machines they steal from dead Ukrainians they’re no better than Putin—thieves.

The Russian people need to stop this war, but we won’t hear about it until it’s a fait accompli—Putin’s propaganda machine will ensure this.

All we know is war is hell. And those who live in underground bunkers while launching missiles never get to experience that. Which is the problem with modern armies.

I will never accept them, or want my government to recognize them ever again - except as war criminals and a constant threat.

Fact is, Putin doesn't care about anything except for Putin. Sound familiar? Meanwhile, through all the propaganda bullshit showing Russia to date as the victor in the unprovoked attack on UKraine, that isn't the total picture nor truths, and that's got to be quite painful for a self absorb killer. Inasmuch he believes that his GAWD has justified all that he is doing to the world. i.e food crisis, killings, maiming, raping, stealing people, etc. Again, sounds familiar?

There are dissidence in Russia blowing up mostly military facilities, etc

At this point who cares? It is time for nations to stop clutching their pearls and give Ukraine all the weapons they need without worrying about offending Russia.
