Donald Trump is no longer in contempt of court for failing to comply with NY AG subpoena

Source: CNN

Former President Donald Trump is no longer in contempt of a New York court, a judge said in an order Wednesday.

Trump was held in civil contempt in April for failing to comply with a subpoena from the New York Attorney General's Office for documents as part of its investigation into the former President's company.

New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron said he reviewed additional documents Trump submitted and the attorney general's office agreed that the conditions to purge his contempt had been met. Trump had previously met other conditions needed to lift the order, including paying a fine and sworn statements describing the Trump Organization's document retention and destruction policy, as well as a review of five boxes tied to Trump that were located in an off-site storage facility.

Engoron said Wednesday that the $110,000 that Trump paid in fines will be held in an escrow account pending his appeal being finalized.

is that in addition to the 14 boxes of WH material that he had stashed in his garage? Or wherever?
I get confused over that.

I'll bet there are other boxes that he purloined with help.

"Although we are pleased that the court has lifted the contempt finding, we maintain that it was wholly unwarranted and improper in the first place," Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump, said in a text message. "We will push ahead with our appeal to secure justice for our client."

Trump was fined $10,000 per day through May 6, when his attorneys first filed explanations of their attempts to search for subpoenaed documents. In the weeks since, the judge and the attorney general have demanded affidavits from two dozen Trump Organization employees and attorneys in an effort to learn how Donald Trump's eponymous company has for a decade apparently kept nearly no records on the personal finances of its namesake.

Nearly all the employees who filed affidavits described a company that has few concrete policies related to the destruction and retention of documents related to Trump's personal finances, leaving such decisions to individuals, or in certain cases, their department heads.

Those statements largely mirrored what Trump said in his own affidavit, that "it has been my customary practice to delegate document handling and retention responsibilities to my executive assistants."............................
