Accounts of Trump angrily demanding to go to Capitol on January 6 circulated in Secret Service

Source: CNN

Then-President Donald Trump angrily demanded to go to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and berated his protective detail when he didn’t get his way, according to two Secret Service sources who say they heard about the incident from multiple agents, including the driver of the presidential SUV where it occurred.

The sources tell CNN that stories circulated about the incident – including details that are similar to how former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson described it to the House select committee investigating January 6 – in the months immediately afterward the US Capitol attack and before she testified this week.

While the details from those who heard the accounts differ, the Secret Service sources say they were told an angry confrontation did occur. And their accounts align with significant parts of Hutchinson’s testimony, which has been attacked as hearsay by Trump and his allies who also have tried to discredit her overall testimony.

Like Hutchinson, one source, a longtime Secret Service employee, told CNN that the agents relaying the story described Trump as “demanding” and that the former President said something similar to: “I’m the f**king President of the United States, you can’t tell me what to do.” The source said he originally heard that kind of language was used shortly after the incident.

1. The media need to let this go.

So do we.

Trump’s bizarre behavior is not the issue.

The issue is that Trump committed an act of treason and domestic terrorism.

That Trump sought to lead a mob of armed rightwing terrorists to the Capitol to prevent the certification of Joe Biden’s election victory.

That Trump and his supporters sought to destroy our democratic institutions, ignore the will of the people, and install himself as an autocratic dictator.

And the issue is that a majority of Republicans, conservatives, and others on the right condoned this violent coup attempt – they are as culpable and responsible as Trump.

Anyone who didn't fall under Trump's propaganda knew he was an unstable idiot from the moment he floated down the escalator. This is proof of that to the idiots who believed his trash.

Two Secret Service sources are now confirming Trump lunged for the steering wheel in an attempt at going to the Capitol, per CNN.

The agents confirmed Trump “angrily demanded to go to the US Capitol on January 6, 2021, and berated his protective detail when he didn’t get his way,”

One of the sources allegedly heard directly from the driver of the vehicle. Hutchinson claimed Trump tried taking control of the steering wheel after discovering he was being taken back to the White House after his speech to supporters.

... in the capital to lead the ARMED take over of the government, thus holding power and denying the millions of voters the right to choose their next president.

He is a deranged psychopath and should never be allowed to hold any position of power again. HE WILL MISUSE IT if given a chance.

Life in prison is the only safe option for this country. He wants to take this country back to the 1800s.

The only advantage I can see is that in the 1800s, the punishment for an armed insurrection would have been hanging or a firing squad.

in this stuff that was circulating?

I really wish the whole violent reaction claim hadn't been aired. It's a distraction from the fact TFG desperately wanted to go to the Capitol.

Of course, the RW media will harp at that because it's something they think they can cast doubt on. It's what they do. But really, this incident is further proof that Trump was a bumbling boob from day one. And it's up to those of us who can't stand the Orange Walrus that we throw it back in their faces. Because it's not impossible to believe. In fact, it's more than true that he was unstable. We saw it every day he was president.
