Rock Legend Carlos Santana Collapses On Stage
Source: Huffington Post
Rock legend Carlos Santana collapsed on stage in the middle of a concert in Michigan on Tuesday night, according to reports from the scene.
His condition is not yet known, but footage showed him waving to fans as he was taken off the stage on a stretcher at the Pine Knob Music Theatre outside Detroit.
Fans were asked to leave ― and to pray for Santana, who turns 75 later this month.
Santana, widely considered one of the greatest and most innovative guitar players of all time, had to cancel some dates last December due to what was described at the time as an unscheduled heart procedure.

(102,276 posts)with heat as but one example. If it is serious, it still may be something that can be well managed.
Why do so many want to write off anyone over a certain age? Mick Jagger and Keith Richards too? Paul McCartney?
I hope Santana recovers fully and does what he believes to be best for him. And if it means performing, I hope I get the chance to see him.

Are ALL over a certain age to disappear from public view so as not to upset your sensitivities? Including those landmark performers whose talent has been a treasured gift for decades? Seems like that ought to be THEIR choice and not that of an ageist bigoted POV.

(6,931 posts)Hey genius,I'll be 69 in a couple of months and SURE as HELL don't do what I used to do which was installing floor covering for over 44 years.
So take your "ageist" SHIT and go somewhere else and cry about it.

(6,931 posts)I didn't call for for a Federal law stating that 70+ year old rockers can NEVER perform again,I just stated it MIGHT be time to call it a day.
Yeah I like Santana too, they became a force about time I was a senior in HS. BUT...fifty years later I don't need any of them collapsing on stage just for MY entertainment needs.

(38,557 posts)I actually saw him once. It was an amazing show.
First of all, yeah, he's a great guitarist.
Secondly, he surrounds himself with crazy good musicians--specifically a percussion section that can do no wrong. I'm talking about a very large group of people whose timing is impeccable. I kept looking to see where the conductor was, because they were so "together."
I really hope he's okay. In my opinion, the world is a better place with him in it.

(23,340 posts)I was feeling a bit weak and woozy during sports yesterday evening, maybe fifty miles from that music venue. And I was drinking water all during the games. Yeah, it was hot, and I'm still drinking a lot of water, so I must have gotten dehydrated. At the age of this Bozo and, coincidentally, Carlos Santana, it's easy to dehydrate. Of course, his guitar playing is far more energetic than my pathetic attempt at tennis.
Best of health, Sr Santana.
