ATLANTA (AP) — A rural Georgia monument that some conservative Christians criticized as satanic and others dubbed “America’s Stonehenge” was demolished Wednesday after a predawn bombing turned one of its four granite panels into rubble.

The Georgia Guidestones monument near Elberton was damaged by an explosive device, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said, and later knocked down “for safety reasons,” leaving a pile of rubble in a picture that investigators published.

Surveillance footage showed a sharp explosion blowing one panel to rubble just after 4 a.m. Investigators also released video of a silver sedan leaving the monument.

After prior vandalism, video cameras connected to the county’s emergency dispatch center were stationed at the site, said Elbert Granite Association Executive Vice President Chris Kubas.

Guidelines for futures generations, sure. But with very creepy references to some sort of disaster that echoes the words of certain white nationalists. If it was a Christian terrorist and they just blew up their own shit the question would be, did they do it because they were confused and thought it was a pagan monument? Or did they do it to try to make it look like the left are terrorists?

Or, of course there are the remaining possibilities that it was an idiot on the left that just made things worse for everyone. Or even possibly a random act of vandalism.

Was just thinking of the Buddhas that were blown up over in the Middle East. Lord knows we can't have anything that speaks to the Age of Reason. I'm so tired of their Holier than Thou bull crap. I'd like to hit them over the head with it 'til they can't see straight. Just everyone avoid Georgia like the plague; obviously they don't want your tourist dollars. They're doing just fine on their own. There's plenty of things to see and lovely people to visit in Blue States. And I'd bet your money will be more than welcome there, too.

This just makes me sick. I saw a story on the Guidestones on the History Channel one time, and had hoped to see them someday. These Christianists make me so glad I walked, then ran, from that religion so many decades ago. I got news from them. Things like this will NEVER lure me back to that religion. Deeds speak a hell of a louder than words. Deeds like this say you're chickensh*t scared and so's your god.

Most of us, if we had strong opinions about how the world ought to be run, would write some tweets, or put up a web page, or at most self-publish a book. But these assholes, being rich and Christian, think their opinions need to be carved in stone for all time. So then, since their self-righteous ignorant opinions are not sufficiently conformant to the self-righteous ignorant opinions of the people around them, the debate decays into vandalism and destruction rather than anybody making a reasoned argument.

The guide stones had a set of 10 principles engraved on them in eight different languages, including Arabic,
English, Hebrew, Hindi, Russian, Spanish, Swahili and Traditional Chinese.

The principles are:

1) Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
2) Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity.
3) Unite humanity with a living new language.
4) Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason.
5) Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
6) Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
7) Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
8) Balance personal rights with social duties.

Current world population is almost 8 Billion, #2 is probably why the ChristoFascist blew it up (my guess)

I never heard of these until now, believe it or not.

The second principle sounds a little too close to eugenics for my taste, and I question what a new language would do to unite humanity, but I could definitely get behind a lot of the things in that list.
