Abortion doctor signals she'll sue Indiana AG over comments

Source: AP

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis doctor who performed an abortion on a 10-year-old rape victim from Ohio took the first step Tuesday toward suing Indiana’s attorney general for defamation.

Dr. Caitlin Bernard, an Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist who gave the girl a medication-induced abortion on June 30, filed a tort claim notice over what she says are false statements that Attorney General Todd Rokita has made about her and her work.

Bernard received widespread attention after she gave an interview to the Indianapolis Star about the child, who traveled to Indiana from Ohio for the abortion. A so-called fetal heartbeat law took effect in Ohio last month after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Such laws ban abortions from the time a fetus’ heartbeat can be detected, which is typically around the sixth week of pregnancy.

A 27-year-old man was charged last week in Columbus, Ohio, with raping the girl, confirming the existence of a case that was initially met with skepticism by some news outlets and Republican politicians.

She should sue the Wall Street Journal too.

That is the ONLY language these aholes understand. They don’t care about truth, they don’t care about ethics, but if flogging their lies to score political points ends up costing them a hefty settlement, they will peddle their lies a little more carefully in the future.

Yes, we must respond every time we see this kind of injustice! This is not normal behavior. We must hold all accountable to the disruption of our freedom and Civil rights! This is dark history! Stay awake!

.... If there isn't a heart, there isn't a heartbeat. And at six weeks there isn't a heart.

But what difference would it make if there was? None. The heart does not ensure viability outside the womb.

I can't tell you how happy this news makes me! I just posted earlier this evening that I think he deserves a gigantic ass-kicking for the things he said, and I meant it!

I hope she sues him absolutely blind AND makes him a figure of public ridicule while she's at it. That pos is right up (or down) there with Trump, Abbott, and DeSantis on the list of people I hate, loathe, and despise.

She is an OBGYN, abortion is just one piece of comprehensive women’s (and, sadly in this case, children’s) health care.

“Abortion doctor” does not describe her, any more than “cholecystectomy doctor” would describe a general surgeon or “pneumonia doctor” describes an internist.

She is the gynecologist who cared for an abused child. Or, the doctor who cared for this child.

Please respect her by referring to her credentials properly. She is so much more than 1 procedure.
