Secret Service held onto Pelosi threat until after insurrection

Source: CREW

The Secret Service knew of a threat to Nancy Pelosi on January 6th days before the insurrection, but did not pass it along until hours after the Capitol had been breached, according to Secret Service emails obtained by CREW.

On January 4, Secret Service agents discovered a Parler account, which we’ve chosen not to name, posting a series of violent threats towards lawmakers. Other profiles with the same name appeared on Twitter, MeWe, Bitchute, Youtube and Facebook.

On December 31, the account posted, “January 6 starts #1776 all over again…Fight for EVERYTHING” and listed “Enemies,” including Pelosi. At 5:55 pm on January 6, after hours of defending the United States Capitol from a violent mob, the United States Capitol Police received the post along with a message from the Secret Service:

“Good afternoon, The US Secret Service is passing notification to the US Capitol Police regarding discovery of a social media threat directed toward Speaker Nancy Pelosi.”
The language used by the account, as we’ve now seen repeated in recordings released by the January 6th Committee, is a clear call for a violent overthrow of the American government on January 6, 2021.

I have personally thought since TFG left that the entire house needs to be leveled and rebuilt. Even then there are risks, but for now I do not so how a single SS agent can be trusted. I am sure that is unfair to the dedicated ones, but how much risk can you accept when dealing with the security of this country and its leaders.
I would not be surprised if SS agents helped carry those documents to Mar-A-Lago (and maybe even helped pick out the good docs).

Newly revealed emails show Secret Service was warned about Jan. 6 threat to Pence — but failed to act

Newly revealed emails show the U.S. Secret Service received urgent warnings that vice president Mike Pence's life was in danger from right-wing extremists.

Communications obtained by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington show that in the days before January 6, 2021, the Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies were concerned that Donald Trump supporters planned to bring weapons to the U.S. Capitol with the intention of causing violence. But the watchdog group said the agency did not appear to take the threat seriously.

“It’s gonna get violent as we charge the federal buildings and drag out corrupt politicians dead or alive!” read one post shared with the Secret Services and other agencies before the insurrection, while another clearly specified their chief target: “F*ck pence sellout traitor we better see him coming out that building in handcuffs or were [sic] going in.”

snip.............

"These documents show government law enforcement receiving clear warnings of the violence bound for DC on January 6," CREW wrote. "The Secret Service was fully aware that the Trump supporters coming posed a real threat of violence, particularly against Mike Pence, including the possibility of an assault on the Capitol. What they do not show is why the Secret Service downplayed the danger and threats of violence on January 6."

Yeah, we know why.

The Secret Service likely got all kinds of Intel and chatter about angry people saying all kinds of things about what might happen that day and could have been constructively hoping and expecting the event wouldn't be more than a demonstration/protest on the steps with signs and yelling. Once the Capitol was breached, they warned Pelosi.

Is it possible they didn't want to concern her until there was actual physical danger? Especially if they were expecting the crowd would be controlled and there wouldn't be any contact between congress and demonstrators?

The Capitol on regular days is quite secure, so they may not have had reason for specific alarm about Pelosi or anyone's physical safety until the doors were breached.

This is profoundly troubling. If we can't trust the Secret Service, who can we trust?

Is it an internal advancement? Regardless of who is President? Or does the President himself....and others that use the SS for protection....get to chose from a selection? Where they get to ask them all kinds of personal questions, including what party they vote for? And beyond that...even to filter the more radical supporters to serve for them?

Even to replace the director of the SS so that he also will only advance the agents that are MAGAts, for instance?

Know that Obama, Trump and Biden -- as probably most other presidents -- chose their own protection details. Now President Biden has chosen the same team he'd had under Obama.

Here are locations for their training, with the first being specialized training for the White House

ERT — Emergency Response Team -- specialized training out of Fort Carson, CO -- for WH president and VP protectees

FLETC — Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, in Glencoe, GA, first leg of all SS training

A former U.S. Attorney is calling for a full investigation into the U.S. Secret Service’s failure to share intelligence it had detailing a violent threat against Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and other top Democrats.

“This is deeply disturbing,” says Joyce Vance, who is now a law professor and MSNBC/NBC News legal analyst. She says it “requires a full investigation.”

“The Capitol Police are responsible for protecting the Speaker,” Vance continues. “If true” that the U.S. Secret Service “failed to pass on intelligence about threats, that’s very alarming.”

Vance points to a new report from Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) that finds the Secret Service discovered a violent social media based threat on January 4, 2021, two days before the insurrection, but did not share that intelligence with the Capitol Police until nearly 6 PM ET on January 6.
