U.S. gasoline prices fall to pre-Ukraine invasion levels

Source: Reuters

U.S. wholesale gasoline prices fell to their lowest levels since before Russia's invasion of Ukraine on Wednesday, suggesting motorists in the world's largest energy consumer will see lower pump prices in coming weeks.

U.S. gasoline futures fell as low as $2.5899 per gallon on Wednesday, the lowest since Feb. 18, just before Moscow invaded Ukraine, setting off a series of sanctions from the United States and its allies that boosted prices across the energy markets to multi-year highs.

Energy costs have been the primary driver of global inflation, with retail gasoline prices hitting an all-time record in the United States at more than $5 a gallon in mid-June.

Lack of spare refining capacity pushed costs for refined products higher, but headed into winter, gasoline prices have started to retreat as demand dips.

And since Biden controls gas prices according to the Right, I say.... Congratulations, Mr. President!

You seem to fill up your tank in one of the most expensive gas stations in Hawaii.

Also, Hawaii relies on Russian oil more than other states.

Perhaps try reading first before replying since you were shown to be in error by another poster in this thread who lives in the state (where it's apparent that you don''t), and instead replied to me with some convoluted nonsense.

so in your rush to argue a bunch of nonsense, you failed again.

She told you what she saw where she lives in the state (where you don't live) but you not only summarily dismissed it, you did so in a juvenile and condescending way as if she were lying, rather than accept that one's "mileage may vary". But nice try.

Where I live, Dubuque, IA, the gas prices are higher than the other decent-sized cities in the eastern & central part of Iowa. Sam's Club prices this morning at 4 AM:

Dubuque - $3.52 (had been $3.47 for a week or so)
Cedar Rapids - $3.25
Waterloo - $3.22
Davenport - $3.21
Ames - $3.19
Des Moines - $3.04
Ankeny - $3.03

what will be the excuse for continuing higher prices? Seems like inflation is more the result of corporate consolidation and outright greed than anything else. Wall Street is pushing the Fed to throw us into a nasty recession so that workers will be forced to take shitty jobs at very low pay.

Gee, it's almost like that didn't have a thing to do with the massive price increases we saw.

Since it was totally Joe Biden's fault gas prices went up. Can we now blame him for gas prices going down? Asking for a friend.
