Empty folders among items found in FBI search of Trump home
Source: Washington Post
WASHINGTON FBI agents who searched former President Donald Trumps Florida home last month found empty folders marked with classified banners, according to a more detailed inventory of the seized material made public by the Justice Department on Friday.
The inventory reveals in general terms the contents of 33 boxes taken from Mar-a-Lago during the Aug. 8 search.
It shows the extent to which newspapers, magazines and other items were commingled among documents that investigators say were marked as classified, including at the top-secret level.

All his golf courses, his apartment in NY should be searched, this SOB is going to burn the USA to prevent going to jail, he is worst than a traitor, the SOB is a maniac, I don't understand why he is not in jail already, he should be in constant surveillance.

(7,162 posts)... Many of them do not have cover folders. ALL classified documents are supposed to have cover folders, and those that don't did. So empty cover folders do not necessarily mean missing documents.
They do mean documents that were separated from the required covers, which, as stated in the article, "shows the extent to which classified information including material at the top-secret level was kept in boxes and containers at the home and commingled among newspapers, magazines, clothing and other personal items".

(33,643 posts)reconciling the empty folders with documents recovered that were not in folders, to see if any are indeed missing, or just out of their proper folders.
I'd think it was damn near 'job one'.
But you're right, empty folders don't mean 'the contents are entirely unaccounted for'.
However, should it turn out, after reconciliation, that some or all of the expected contents of these empty folders are entirely missing ... Diaper Don better look out, man. That's gonna be a BFD.

(17,506 posts)The empty folders don't necessarily mean there are more classified documents. Trump apparently just dumped reading material in boxes with no organization. Wouldn't surprise me to learn he took the classified documents out of their folders and just chucked the folders aside to be scooped up later and tossed in a different box.
This does make the damage assessment harder because DNI et al can't assume there aren't more classified documents. I would think there are logs of what was taken out, returned and not returned though.

That would make her look bad with such a poor ruling. On the other hand it would give her cover with the maggots.
Not a dilemma if you are a judge with integrity. So she wrings her hands and tries her best to thread the needle.

(26,016 posts)that he had them and trying to keep them hidden was to remove them from folders and intermingle them with magazines and other personal, non governmental material.
It is also possible that missing documents are intelligence records of J6 collaborators.

(106,212 posts)that had to be put in each folder (which sounds unlikely). The folders could just be what the classified documents also found were in. Sure, the contents of the folder might be still hidden, but unless the folders have their contents written on them and that hasn't been accounted for, they'll just say "that was the folder that document was in". It shows someone looked at the contents, I suppose.
