Another Putin Ally Dead After ‘Suffocating’ on Business Trip

Another top ally of Russian President Vladimir Putin has died this week, this time of an alleged “stroke” while on a business trip in the village of Roshchino in Russia’s far east region.

Vladimir Nikolayevich Sungorkin, 68, was editor-in-chief of the Russian state newspaper, Komsomolskaya Pravda. According to the newspaper, Sungorkin died “suddenly” after showing signs of “suffocation” during the trip on Wednesday.

“It happened absolutely suddenly, nothing foreshadowed. We were in the village of Roshchino. We were driving, we were already making our way towards Khabarovsk, we planned to get there in the evening today, and from there to Moscow. All was good,” his colleague Leonid Zakharov, who had accompanied him on the business trip, wrote in a story for KP.

I know I'm generalizing but Russians drink like fish and the food they eat sucks. A stroke, a heart attack is not surprising. And there is a lot of stress in Russia right now.

Drugs are nice - leave no externally visible traces (other than cyanosis, etc.) especially if there are no autopsies allowed.

Even the people in NYC have always hated his orange ass.😂

But on a side-by-side comparison, the people "close to him" are all going down on criminal charges. tRump couldn't get away with assassinating people and we on the left don't generally do that sort of thing. The DOJ, NY AG, and Fani Willis seem to be taking care of his goons for us, legitimately.

Putin needs it for fortifying his Sochi bunker. He knows he is dead meat if he tries to walk around his reformulated USSR.

I'm guessing the stench from his bunker in Sochi will eventually be pretty overpowering - no matter the infrastructure.

Symptoms include an explicable desire to leap from the windows of tall buildings, falling off boats into deep lakes, consuming polonium tea, etc. Linked to older high worth Russian oligarchs who have allied themselves with Vladimir Putin. Prognosis: grim.

So the question is: are these Putin allies who were planning to betray him, or is someone in the FSB performing a rolling purge of Putin allies?

and a car window is a little small to be trying to push anyone out of, so I agree, there's probably a plastic bag from Perekrestok somewhere in the back seat along with an empty vodka bottle (making "all good&quot rolling around. Or the medical examiner just didn't bother with the garotte marks on the guy's neck.

and is heavily dependent upon individual circumstances. The 'average' includes the majority tranche of working class men with a low life expectancy from preventable causes (heavy alcohol use and smoking, unfortunately suicide, also). Russian women live 7 to 8 years longer, including working class women due to better health (and presumably dealing better with horrible social expectations).

Our buddy here enjoyed elite status and all of its benefits not enjoyed by many others. This makes a sudden 'oops' a little less likely, particularly associated with Putin.

(I have Russian relations on both sides of my family, some are recent arrivals - most hate Putin BTW and worry about the threat of authoritarianism here).

No - this was an ally of Putin

My guess - just like the car bomb that killed the daughter of an ally recently - these are targeted assassinations of Putin’s allies.

Sending a message to Putin.
