New footage confirms fake Trump elector spent hours inside Georgia elections office
Source: CNN Politics
Washington CNN A Republican county official in Georgia and operatives working with an attorney for former President Donald Trump spent hours inside a restricted area of the local elections office on the day voting systems there were breached, newly obtained surveillance video shows. The video reveals for the first time what happened inside the Coffee County elections office on January 7, 2021, the same day its voting systems are known to have been compromised.
Among those seen in the footage is Cathy Latham, a former GOP chairwoman of Coffee County who is under criminal investigation for posing as a fake elector in 2020. CNN previously reported that Latham escorted operatives working with former Trump lawyer Sidney Powell through the front door of the elections office on January 7, 2021. The new footage appears to undercut previous claims by Latham that she was not personally involved in the breach.
The new video, obtained as part of a years-long civil lawsuit in Georgia related to the security of voting systems there, shows Latham remained in the office for hours as those same operatives set up computers near election equipment and appear to access voting data. The footage also features the two men Latham escorted into the building earlier that day, Scott Hall and Paul Maggio, both of whom have acknowledged they were part of a team that gained access to Coffee Countys voting systems.
Maggio did not respond to CNNs request for comment. The data firm he works for, SullivanStrickler, which court documents show was hired by Powell, previously said in a statement to CNN that it was directed by attorneys to contact county election officials to obtain access to certain data in Georgia and also directed by attorneys to distribute that data to certain individuals. In an August 29, 2022 email, an attorney for SullivanStrickler acknowledges that Latham was the primary point of contact in coordinating the teams visit to Coffee County.

(129,440 posts)the state of GA has already set their sights on her and she had her electronic subpoenaed as part of their probe (and her lawyers have been trying to quash the subpoena). She had given a sworn deposition about her involvement primarily being to "meet" the criminals and then she left for the rest of the day... and this video essentially snags her for perjury.

ATLANTA (AP) A former Republican Party official in Georgia who was a fake elector in 2020 misrepresented her role in an alleged breach of voting equipment at a rural elections office two months after the last presidential election, according to a court filing. The filing late Monday is part of a broader lawsuit challenging the security of the states voting machines that has been drawn into a separate investigation of former President Donald Trumps efforts to overturn his loss in Georgia.
According to the latest filing, Cathy Latham helped coordinate the arrival of a computer forensics team at the Coffee County elections office on Jan. 7, 2021, welcomed them upon arrival and spent nearly all day there instructing them what to copy. That turned out to be virtually every component of the voting system, the court filing says. That directly refutes her testimony in a sworn deposition and her representations in filings with the court, the document states.
The filing comes in response to Lathams attorneys attempt to quash subpoenas for her personal electronic devices, including any cell phones, computers and storage devices. Robert Cheeley, an attorney for Latham, did not respond to an email seeking comment. He previously said his client doesnt remember all the details of that day. But he said she would not and has not knowingly been involved in any impropriety in any election and has not acted improperly or illegally.
Latham said in a deposition last month that she moved to Texas over the summer. In January 2021, she was chair of the Coffee County Republican Party and was the state party caucus chair for more than 125 of Georgias smaller counties. Latham also was one of 16 Georgia Republicans who signed a certificate in December 2020 falsely stating that Trump had won the state and declaring that they were the states duly elected and qualified electors.

On Jan. 7, 2021, a group of forensics experts working for lawyers allied with President Donald Trump spent eight hours at a county elections office in southern Georgia, copying sensitive software and data from its voting machines. Under questioning last month for a civil lawsuit, a former Georgia Republican Party official named Cathy Latham said in sworn testimony that she briefly stopped by the office in Coffee County that afternoon. She said she stayed in the foyer and spoke with a junior official about an unrelated matter at the front desk.
I didnt go into the office, Latham said, according to a transcript of her deposition filed in court. She said she had seen in passing a pro-Trump businessman who was working with the experts. She said they chatted for five minutes at most she could not remember the topic and she left soon after for an early dinner with her husband.
Surveillance video footage reviewed by The Washington Post shows that Latham visited the elections office twice that day, staying for more than four hours in total. She greeted the businessman, Scott Hall, when he arrived and led him into a back area to meet the experts and local officials, the video shows. Over the course of the day, it shows, she moved in and out of an area where the experts from the data forensics firm, SullivanStrickler, were working, a part of that building that was not visible to the surveillance camera. She took a selfie with one of the forensics experts before heading out at 6:19 p.m.
A Post examination found that elements of the account Latham gave in her deposition on the events of Jan. 6 and 7, 2021, appear to diverge from the footage and other evidence, including depositions and text messages. Many of those records, including Lathams Aug. 8 deposition, were filed in a long-running federal civil court case involving election security in Georgia.

(129,440 posts)is that she lied in a sworn deposition about only being there "briefly" and "no more than 5 minutes". In fact the entire thing was a fabriation. The WaPo article (no paywall link) has a blow by blow that is simply breathtaking.
She got the focus because of being a fake elector but apparently others were involved.

And it will be far worse this November, when the GOP has made no secret that they will try to steal this election.

(129,440 posts)which includes those who utilized Cyber Ninjas and/or their affiliates, like AZ and here in PA. These bogus "forensic investigations" were done explicitly against places that used Dominion Voting equipment
This is partly why Dominion Voting Systems has multiple $1.x billion dollar lawsuits against Faux and their gasbags, as well as the Kracken lawyers who spearheaded these "audits" and "forensic analyses".

(10,207 posts)I would have thought they would have done this before the vote was done, counted and recorded.
Maybe trying to just confused people and rig the votes to make it look like they were counted inaccurately?
I don't understand the purpose of the breach of election data.

(129,440 posts)Dominion Voting Systems and/or Smartmatic machines (I believe in all the cases where these bogus "audits" occurred utilized these machines). I expect it was not only to sow doubt in election results period, but to justify "alternate" (fake) electors and also to criminally gain access to the systems in order to tamper with future votes.
In some cases like GA, MI, and PA, they picked red counties to mess with the machines as part of their conspiracy as they would be easier access. In others like AZ, they were doing it with blue counties.
Which is why there are multiple $1.x billion dollar lawsuits against the purveyors and amplifiers of the "Big Lie®" and their defamation of those machines.
Forbes has a whole status (updated as of yesterday) of all the lawsuits from the companies against the loons who spearheaded and promoted this - https://www.forbes.com/sites/alisondurkee/2022/09/19/after-court-lets-fox-news-challenge-move-forward-heres-where-dominion-and-smartmatic-defamation-suits-stand-now-and-who-could-be-next/?sh=403d983f49cc

(129,440 posts)and with many of us (sometimes even me) thinking that as a bit hyperbolic, the more the layers are peeled back, the more we are finding that the phrase really isn't hyperbolic at all.
I think there were various and sundry plans over the years that had been hatched and shelved but the 2020 election seemed to encourage these pre-packaged fraudulent actions to be tried - even if as a test - and it is insidious knowing that Turtle spent 4 years packing the courts in an effort to get some of them to become "legal" and normalized.
Fortunately President Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer have pushed to balance that court-packing by prioritizing judicial nominees for confirmation, and critically at the Appellate Court level, where something like 90+% of the cases filed will end, and never get appealed to or are rejected by the SCOTUS.

(2,839 posts)they're taking away my respect for humans in general. Now, I really *want* to preface my conversations will all new people with are you an R or a D. If they answer an R, I want to walk about mumbling out loud. I don't want to even give them the benefit of the doubt anymore, even though I *know* some decent people who vote R on conservative financial issues -- not social issues. But even those friendships are gone, because I no longer trust them, even.
These people are the reason for that. I hate them, and because of that, they've tainted every R relationship I managed to make peace with in any way, shape, or form...
