Oz releases health records to spotlight Fetterman's stroke
Source: AP via AOL
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) Dr. Mehmet Oz, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania, released his health records as he maneuvers to keep questions about Democratic rival John Fettermans recovery from a stroke front and center in the hotly contested campaign.
Dr. Rebecca Kurth in New York City wrote in a four-page letter that she found the 62-year-old heart surgeon-turned-TV celebrity to be in excellent health" in an annual checkup Thursday.
The letter noted that Oz has a total cholesterol level that is borderline elevated but can be addressed by diet, and referenced that in 2010 he had a polyp a growth that sometimes can become cancerous removed from his colon. An electrocardiogram a test that records electrical signals in the heart to detect heart problems he had Thursday came out normal.
Your examination is healthy, and the blood tests are favorable, Kurth wrote. She recommended no medication.

(128,446 posts)meaning his nonsense about Fetterman with the "If he had 'ever eaten a vegetable in his life,' he wouldn't have 'had a stroke'" needs to apply to himself too.
He doesn't need to go there with that "medical" record.
IOW, people can and do have a myriad of health situations - often outside of their control - and that can become more pronounced as one ages.
He needs to pack his bags and go back to Jersey.

(128,446 posts)but for other positions, it can be TMI.
The average age of the Senate in the current 117th Congresd is 64 - https://guides.loc.gov/117th-congress-book-list
There were 2 other Senators (both (D) as a note) who had strokes this past year just before and around the same time as Fetterman - Chris Van Hollen and Ben Lujan). And I won't even get into Turtle and whatever the hell is wrong with him or Leahy, who is stepping down this year at the end of his term.

(6,110 posts)At age 57 I had High cholesterol , high blood pressure, border line diabetic, panic attacks, chest pains after a meal, fainting spells. Then I quit job and started walking 25 Miles every week.
20 years later now, all my health issues are still absent.

(128,446 posts)I had a co-worker who was former navy and Vietnam vet and who was meticulous with his health - whether with what and how much he was eating and was even biking to work from across the bridge in Jersey. No junk food and perfect weight. Yet he ended up having to have quadruple bypass surgery.
There is so much that we continue to learn about the human body and the conditions that are both environmental and genetic, that can trigger a myriad of health issues down the road that are difficult to combat. I expect right now, COVID-19 is going to be a biggy for many - particularly young people who may have long covid and how that might manifest as they age.

(6,110 posts)Eat less red meat.
Eat more fish, chicken, eggs.
Eat lot more fruits especially orange fruit such as mangoes & papaya.
Eat lots of veggies from the alkaline family such as zucchini, sprouts, cabbage.
Most important is regular moderate exercise. Never over-strain muscles or joints. I am doing fast walk on treadmill & 30 pulls on the weight machine with light weights 5 days every week.
Keep weight in normal range.
Now in my 80', I have zero health issues. Only medication I take is lowest dose of Lisinopril and 80 mg Aspirin. 100 is looking doable unless cancer strikes. There is no real way to prevent all cancers. Regular exercise may help prevent certain cancers.

MSNBC felt like HEY ONE STORY TODAY, Hours of shows now BEATING IT TO DEATH!
You had me in the 10 mins of the first one I picked to watch that day, and now, I can go do something else!

(15,265 posts)understand what can happen if you don't take your health seriously. Fetterman admits he ignored his doctor's advice, that he also now says he should have followed, after being diagnosed with a heart problem years ago. Maybe talking openly about it has helped others to reassess their health decisions for the better.

(22,065 posts)to add strength to his campaign and not to tear down a candidate for an ailment that many suffer, and many take medication(s) for it too, to reduce the risks associated w/ stroke. I'm just so glad that when Mr. F's stroke occurred, that any bodily damage(s) were hopefully limited and that he's on the path to a full and complete recovery.
Dr. Oz taking advantage of one's health issues isn't doing himself any favours. Kind of pathetic and downright needy, signs of desperation to help prop up his failing campaign in NJ...Opps, I meant Pennsylvania!

(5,331 posts)Oz should take a kinder, more concerned approach . . . like . . . I'm up to the task, but I hope my opponent is, with his health problems!
But Oz is Oz, tainted with the same "I must win no matter what" TFG style.
Being insensitive and combative doesn't go down well with intelligent people.

But my opponent isn't!
But like TFG, OZ is a bit whacky in the head - but let's ignore that bit, as we were expected to do with TFG.
After all, politicians don't use their heads, right?
Not going to work, Oz buddy! Voters are smarter than that.
One polyp though? Try harder, I lost 17 the other day!
(None malignant, so all good.)

(6,423 posts)Fun but a waste of $ probably, I think OZ burned his own house down on this one re-built and burned it down AGAIN and perhaps thrice!
The wacky greed and egos of maniacal monsters, perplexing puzzle that these billionaires can't think of better things to do than be evil fucks to the rest, but they need to feel our pain, and until then the BENT wealth inequities and just super bad for many born in poverty with no real path out for most? Those forgotten, not really forgotten, but all I can afford is to mention it.
Here in Vegas, hundreds living underground in the waterways (nice word for sewers) under the strip?
That there just WE SUCK as a species overall and all the proof I need.
I see panhandling all the time driving along at lights, and here that is totally illegal in Clark County, beware and it's arrest able if you give them ANY $, how about that one!
We are too poor to fix it, the billionaires should, but they won't because they got rich and stay that way on the status quo, fearful cowards!
You give me a billion and where ever I live gets a huge upgrade to roads, hospitals, police, and fire stations even if it is all on me and I am still rich afterwards!
The dumb people don't even understand how ridiculous 1 billion is in the hands of 1 person?
Billionaires can make more money in a day in interest then some will earn in entire 50 year careers, that is ridiculous!
Jeff Bezos I've heard makes that per hour, 24/7.
That there makes it tough for me to work, demotivated by literally endless free money for non-workers!
