The mysterious nine-second call from the White House: CNN reveals the rioter's identity

CNN first learned about the call earlier this year and is revealing the rioter's identity for the first time.
The cell phone belonged to a 26-year-old Trump supporter from Brooklyn, New York named Anton Lunyk, who traveled to Washington DC the night before January 6 with two friends, Francis Connor and Antonio Ferrigno, according to multiple sources familiar with the investigation, as well as a search of public records.
The three men attended the "Stop the Steal" rally on the Ellipse and then, along with hundreds of others, entered and illegally demonstrated inside the Capitol, a charge they pleaded guilty to in April and were sentenced for earlier this month. Attorneys for all three men declined to comment to CNN.

(7,215 posts)This is more than what some people did, and we're waterboardede for. I'm not condoning that, but the right wingers championed it, against people that had not even attacked our government like these scumbags.

(23,831 posts)The WH saw that they hadn't been able to kill Nancy or Pence as planned and that they were safe, probably telling them to call it off as it was only going to work if they had killed several key people by then.
Make no mistake, the White House plan was to have people killed at the Capitol that day.

(2,689 posts)That is I think the logical conclusion of their calling it an illegal protest instead of an insurrection. When a news organization decides that something like this, a unique and horrible attack on US democracy, an illegal protest, after cops were killed, windows broken, etc... You can bet money the owner of that news organization is not a friend of our constitutional and peaceful means of choosing leadership. News organizations tend to go broad when they can go broad. When they downplay it, it tells you something.
The outing of this fellow, I suspect is a hope that we will be ranting over a nothing burger. This make me suspect that there is much bigger coming.
