Democratic senators and Senate candidates are reporting huge fundraising numbers for the third quart
Source: Politico
What's happening: With the midterm elections about a month away, we're getting more details on the millions Democrats running for Senate have hauled in for their campaigns' final sprints.
The details: In Wisconsin, Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes (D), who's running against incumbent Sen. Ron Johnson (R), raised more than $20.1 million for the third quarter, with nearly half a million individual donations.
Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) has pulled in $17.2 million, nearly doubling what the campaign raised in the second quarter, according to a press release.
Other eyepopping Democratic figures:
Sen. Raphael Warnock's (D-Ga.) campaign raised more than $26 million within the last three months.
Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) reported raising more than $15 million.
Sen. Michael Bennet (D-Colo.) raked in more than $5 million, as we reported on Tuesday.

Which candidates could use my small donations? I'm in Ohio, planning to donate to Mr. Ryan and Ms. Whaley. Michael Franken in Iowa. Probably Ms. Abrams, Beto. Would like to tell many red states to turn blue.
Happy to read that Dem candidates are getting donations. Hope it puts them over the top on Nov. 8th!

I think you're talking about Mike Franken in Iowa, btw.
I am. I think I read an ad disclaiming Mike was Al, but remembered it wrong. lol

(94,712 posts)This is emotion over rationality. Like Amy McGrath two years ago, people will contribute because they hate the opponent. The reality is that Booker doesn't have a chance of beating Paul, and your dollars won't be going to a Senate candidate who's actually competitive. If you want a reach, go with Franken (IA) or McMullen (UT).

Ryan
Franken (have recurring donations with him since the spring)
Abrams
It's good to see that my small amounts are part of LARGE pools for the candidates.
Here are more races I plan to give to
House:
Bohannen (my current district in IA)
Axne (my hometown district in IA)
Heaton (my state legislature district in IA)
Senate:
Demmings
Cortez-Mastro
Ryan
Kelly in AZ
Wisconsin (I forget his name)
North Carolina (Don't know the name)
Maybe others as I think of them or become aware of them....
Also plan to give to Beto and some SOS races, like AZ.

(51,662 posts)It is so misleading when the media just describes small dollar donation totals like this, but it never describes the millions, indeed BILLIONS, Republicans get from PACs whose donors don't have to disclose their identity, unlike us working stiffs who donate $25 directly to a candidate.

(588 posts)as I understand it, the DNC is involved in helping candidates at all levels, from the national to the local, and tries to distribute the money in the most effective way possible, such as to the candidates in the closest races.
Please correct me if I'm wrong about this.
