Even if that wasn't an actual motivator, it's a nice side benefit.

(13,092 posts)There are also people convicted of simple marijuana possession in federal enclaves like national parks. If he really wanted to go big, he could also pardon folks convicted by court-martial. If he wanted to go really big, he could pardon service members convicted of marijuana use based only on urinalysis tests.
It would be a job to identify all of the people in need of a pardon but it would be a nice move.

(13,092 posts)It's a blanket pardon leaving the task of issuing certificates of pardon to individuals to DoJ. The pardon will apply to convictions for possession in federal enclaves. The pardon is based on convictions under the federal possession statute at 21 U.S.C. 844. It will not apply to people with simple possession under the UCMJ.

Who wants to narrowly define what "marriage" is?
And who rails against legalizing pot?
Never understood how they could claim to support the personal freedom mantra.
Liberty and Liberal both come from the same root source.
Unless they are only talking about liberty for the very wealthy to do whatever they like with no consequences.
