Georgia Senate Candidates Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker Will Advance to a December Runoff Elec

Source: People

Democratic Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker will face off again in a Georgia runoff election next month to determine who wins the race, according to multiple projections.

The candidates came in neck-and-neck in Tuesday's general election, with neither reaching the required 50% vote threshold to win the race outright, as 98% of ballots were counted.

Georgia secretary of state's chief operating officer Gabriel Sterling had announced via Twitter Wednesday that a two-round system would be likely.

"While county officials are still doing the detailed work on counting the votes, we feel it is safe to say there will be a runoff for the U.S. Senate here in Georgia," Sterling said, adding that it would be slated for Dec. 6.

Why is a runoff being called when there are still over 19,000 votes to count. I'm guessing that iluvtennis Nov 2022 #2

I wrote cards and phonebanked for Senator Reverend Warnock and Senator Ossoff in 2020. I can do it again.

We're done here so I can at least pump up a campaign in GA

There are a few of those this election. It could be worse, I know, but it will be a few days to get used to some of this.

but I am not as embarrassed as much as for those who voted for Walker. They are just lame-brains. It must be hell for Walker to not be able to threaten or beat another family member for the duration of this extended campaign. I am afraid he's gonna blow.

I can't remember where he campaigned this year but I listened to him. I forgot what a great speaker he is and how he can motivate people.

Getting over 80k votes.

We’re not going to get that cushion next time. We must GOTV like mad to beat that idiot. It’s unreal that anyone would vote for Walker.

And can they vote differently than the first time around?

Because along with the election results, there is other news that might sway voters to cast their votes for Sen. Warnock in the run-off. The inflation report showed it might be leveling out. Gas prices dropped a little on Wed. (big surprise) Job report was decent. President Biden has been out with some truly heartful speeches.

If each and every voter goes back to the polls, there might be more people willing to vote Dem. If the libertarians stay home or vote Dem, that'll help. And if there are more revalations about walker's private life, people might finally see that he is a hypocrite, at the least.

I am stunned that this race, and some of the others are so close. R's have been picking candidates for quantity, not quality, to fill a seat, and vote along with their entrenched members, with no personal requirements of honor, decency or love of country.
