Live Tracker: Tropical Storm Nicole is expected to became a hurricane as it barrels toward the Flori

Source: Insider

da Coast

Tropical Storm Nicole strengthened overnight and is on track to pummel the east coast of Florida Wednesday night as a Category 1 hurricane, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. If and when it does, it will be the first hurricane to make landfall in November since Hurricane Kate struck the state's panhandle in 1985.

As of 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, the storm was about 10 miles from the northwestern Bahamas and 175 miles from West Palm Beach, Florida, according to NOAA's National Hurricane Center. Nicole has sustained maximum winds at 70 mph with strong winds extending nearly 460 miles from the center, moving west at 12 mph.

"We're going to have a very large area of impact, but potentially higher-end impacts as we expect Nicole to intensify into a hurricane as it approaches the Bahamas and the east coast of Florida late Wednesday into Thursday," Michael Brennan, acting deputy director at the NHC, said during a video update of the storm on Tuesday.

After landfall, Nicole is forecast to move across central and northern Florida into southern Georgia on Thursday, then into the Carolinas on Friday.

We've had 20+ mph winds, but it will wind down by tomorrow night over here on the west coast, then it will drift up toward the Carolinas.

I thought it worth posting that it becomes a Cat 1 hurricane before it hits Florida.

Florida and DeSantis have taken enough money from Biden.
Repubs have a clear statewide registration advantage over Dems because there are just too damn many residents that don't want to bother voting. I don't care if Floridians don't get another dime until they get off their asses and register.

Fuck DeSantis and fuck this state for voting Crist and Demings out.
This state's 16 billionaires can literally buy Florida's Republican voters and pay them to register.

Yeah I'm bitter.

Thanks for posting the storm tracker.

My youngest son, wife, and kids are moving to Charlotte, NC. Movers will arrive in the morning to load up the truck and then driving from St. Augustine to Charlotte, NC.

The storm track looks like it will be on top of them for their entire trip.

North Carolina results sucked pretty much as well. Budd is one serious prick. We now have a super majority Legislature. And WE sent the law suit to the Supremacy Court to give legislatures full power to overturn elections with zero court power to interfere.
That DeSatan add was Jim Jones Kool aide on steroids.

Nov 2022

My husband had moved down Labor Day weekend to take a job with a company that was a vendor for his previous employer. So he already knew a lot of his colleagues.

The next day was my 26th birthday. He took me to a Japanese restaurant attached to a Ramada Inn for lunch with about 8 or so coworkers. Great people. Had a blast! One table over a girl celebrating her 16th birthday with her family and friends. Have always kind of wondered how her life turned out.

That afternoon a tropical storm pummeled the town - neophyte ignorant me had thought it was a typical stormy day. Gordon originated off the coast of Mexico and had arrived from the west. It dumped so much rain we later saw on the news that evening that the roof of the restaurant collapsed a few hours after our party from the weight of the rainfall. Fortunately no one was hurt. The restaurant relocated and is still going strong today.

TS Gordon moved into the Atlantic and became Hurricane Gordon. Probably a hurricane with one of the weirdest paths I have ever seen! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteorological_history_of_Hurricane_Gordon#/media/File:Gordon_1994_track.png

Anyway, here we are 28 years later with another November TS/Hurricane around my birthday. I can't help but reflect on all of the amazing changes in my life that have happened over those 28 years. Three houses, an 18-month assignment in metro NYC (09/11/01), three kids, 10 or so car purchases (just bought my dream Mustang convertible), a PhD, two major career pivots (sales management to UU minister to HR Director), kids off to college (empty nest!), four hurricane evacuations, and as many hunker down storms, and now contemplating a relocation out of Florida. Longest time I have ever lived in one place after a VERY transient youth.

Crazy amazing ride! DU has been here for much of it.

Supposed to go straight up the penis of Florida.

Nature is being a bitch to Repukes, first the Blood Moon, now this. Sorry, hope my fellow Floridians get through this O.K., but I am sort of enjoying thinking how DeSantis is going to ask for Federal help again.

to Biden turning DeSatan's ass down. But then DeSatan's squirreled away so much covid and infrastructure money that he probably won't even ask, but brag about how he's going to "take care of Florida." The fraud.

It's already windy & rainy here on the space coast. It's just supposed to be a Cat 1 so it's not worrying, we've had much worse, but I'm supposed to be repairing siding on a customer's house & it's setting that project back a couple days.

Well actually, hoping for a little bit more. Wanted Spectrum to go down in my house before a 4:00 meeting I didn't want to attend.

My Space Coast hatches are battened as well. I think it is probably overkill with a barely cat 1, but better safe than sorry!

Oh, my neighbors just texted me pictures from Cocoa Beach and Satellite Beach. Wowza!

Hurricanes have "barreled in" for far too long.

We need other descriptions.
I like sports metaphors(?).

Hurricane Ida soccer balled in to Miami...
Hurricane Ida fast balled into Surfside, Texas...
Hurricane Ida threw a bean ball at Charleston...
Hurricane Ida sank a hole-in-one at Bayou La Batre ...

Take a shot.
