'Here comes the bride': White House to host its 19th wedding

Source: ABC News

“Here Comes the Bride” will be heard at the White House very soon. Again.

Naomi Biden, the granddaughter of President Joe Biden, and Peter Neal are getting married on the South Lawn on Saturday in what will be the 19th wedding in White House history.

It will be the first wedding with a president's granddaughter as the bride, and the first one in that location, according to the White House Historical Association.

A mutual friend set up Naomi Biden, 28, and Neal, 25, about four years ago in New York City and the White House said they have been together ever since. Naomi Biden is a lawyer; her father is Hunter Biden. Neal recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania law school. The couple lives in Washington.

Nine of the 18 documented White House weddings were for a president’s daughter — most recently Richard Nixon’s daughter, Tricia, in 1971, and Lyndon B. Johnson’s daughter, Lynda, in 1967.

Hunter Biden's daughter...... I'm sure the GQP faithful will be whining about this.

...(and I doubt he would do it anyway) but in his capacity as President of the United States, can Joe Biden actually perform the ceremony?

I never thought about it before.

It was brutal. I had to read a whole three paragraphs of explanation, then pass the critical final exam: fortunately, my credit card was up-to-date and the $35 fee was covered.

You can call me Reverend J -- got all the same credibility as any preacher or priest, more so than most, and best of all, I was able to officiate not only my niece's nuptials but any other weddings I care to perform.

but I'm thinking more along the lines of like say the Captain of a ship being able to marry people while at sea. No special training just something in the Presidential Took Kit we've never seen or heard about before.

Esp'ly since her Pops is a devout catholic (a sensible one at that). Not sure what the groom's religious affiliation is but i'm sure they w work it out & it w be lovely. Naomi is a great combo of both beauty & brains. Her Pops shld be so proud. Also it's time we have a wedding in the WH. It's a lovely tribute to her Pops while he's in office.
