House January 6 committee chairman says panel 'close to putting pens down' on final report

Source: CNN

The chairman of the House select committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the US Capitol said Tuesday that the panel is “close to putting pens down” on its final report, which is slated for release by the end of this Congress.

“The body of the report is complete and there is general agreement on that,” Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi told reporters.

The final report, he said, will include eight chapters.

In addition to focusing on former President Donald Trump’s actions around January 6, the congressman said the final report will “focus on some other issues,” including material the committee has not previously presented. “We are reviewing material on a daily basis,” he said, though he told reporters the panel has largely completed its interviews.

that one of the eight chapters will be "devoted" to GOP congressional co-conspirators..say what you will about Liz Cheney (hates Trump more than she hates Democrats), her former Republican caucus metaphorically speaking "stabbed her in the back...and the front", relieved her of her chairmanships and actively campaigned against her...now it's her turn...

It’s eight chapter glory, will be read, dissected..the media and their talking heads will have a field day, committee members will blanket the networks...for how long is anybody’s guess...and I'm betting one of those chapters will be devoted to the GOP congressmen/women who aided and abetted Trump in his failed coup...and the taint will stick...

this was all a waste of time. Everybody who is going to read their report already agrees with it. CNN will broadcast the findings into an echo chamber.

Some low level smooth brains like the Oath Keepers being convicted isn’t enough. Trump needs a penalty so severe that he, and no other President will ever think to do this again.

If we cannot achieve this, and, Trump faces no repercussions, then, he’s just going to do it again, possibly with success next time. It would be like issuing a report after Enron, but arresting entry-level employees and allowing the company to continue to operate with no fines, arrests of, or changes in leadership.
