Giuliani defends 2020 election challenge at D.C. Bar hearing
Source: Politico
Giuliani was the first witness called during a hearing Monday in front of the D.C. Bar Board of Professional Responsibility to determine whether he violated attorney ethics rules with the federal court challenge he launched in Pennsylvania to subvert President Joe Bidens 2020 victory in that state.
During his testimony, Trumps ex-lawyer echoed one of the former presidents favorite refrains, claiming he has been persecuted by federal investigations over the course of the last four years. He also claimed he wrote only one or two paragraphs of the initial complaint that was filed, leaving the majority of the work to local Pennsylvania attorney Ron Hicks, who withdrew from the suit before it was rejected by both federal district and appeals courts.
In his opening statement, D.C. disciplinary counsel Hamilton Fox described Giulianis legal challenge as frivolous, and said the former presidents attorney weaponized his law license in an effort to undermine the constitution to which he, like all members of the District of Columbia Bar, took an oath to support.

And no, it won't be fun.

(55,816 posts)I seem to recall it was Pres. Clinton who appointed him. How did that decision come about?
Correct me if I'm wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

(39,702 posts)He took a video he knew was edited to a legal hearing, and used it as "evidence" to support claims of "fraud" committed by two election workers.
A vigorous support of your client cannot include altering "evidence," or knowingly and falsely accusing innocent people of crimes.
Arguing points of law is one thing, but that is not what he did in GA. He didn't have any points of law to argue. So instead he yelled "FIRE" in a crowded room.
I know that Ruby and Shey got some sort of settlement from someone out of a suit they filed over how the false accusations upended their lives. I don't know if Rudy is/was part of that suit or is a defendant in a separate suit, but of course he should have to pay to what he did to them.

(20,989 posts)... and it's not a bad strategy. He claims he was just doing his job defending a client.
Jeffery Dahmer's defense team was not sanctioned for abetting cannibalism. No one feared that defending Charles Manson could lead to charges of Helter Skelter for them.
However, those attorneys were trying to convince a jury their clients were innocent. They didn't make independent pleas to the nation's populace that murder is honorable.
